Linebacker TJ Watt‘s latest lung injury has come as a shock not only to the Pittsburgh Steelers but to the entire NFL. The injury occurred on Wednesday when he was being treated at the team facility. Amid the medical issue, an interesting fact has surfaced online that draws a connection with the former Charger Tyrod Taylor‘s incident when doctors accidentally injured him while trying to relieve his cracked ribs right before kickoff.

“This update reminds me of the time when a Chargers team doctor accidentally punctured Tyrod Taylor’s lung just before kickoff while trying to administer a pain-killing injection to the quarterback’s cracked ribs,” wrote Steelers Depot on X.

Tyrod Taylor went through one of his worst times in 2020 after becoming a victim of a medical mishap. The doctors were about to use a pain-killing injection on him before the game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Unfortunately, the needle penetrated too deeply, leading to a pneumothorax (collapsed lung). The event hospitalized him, and Justin Herbert started the game in his absence.

Drawing a connection from an incident that occurred half a decade ago is wild. But the resemblance is uncanny. TJ Watt experienced some uneasiness during practice on Wednesday and was taken to the Steelers’ medical facility. After going through some procedures, he was admitted to the hospital.

TJ Watt was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday and has been there since. Although his problem has not been clearly stated, it seems his recovery will take some time. Luckily, he has been communicating with Mike Tomlin, highlighting that the treatment is working.

“He and I communicated last night,” said Mike Tomlin, via the Steelers’ website. “He was comfortable. And that’s all I have really at this point. His status for Monday night is really up in the air. I think what transpires this afternoon is going to provide more information for us.”
