Aaron Rodgers remains an enigma. He showed up at the Pittsburgh Steelers facility for the first time in a rented car in disguise, got married secretly, and still keeps his plans under wraps. Even towards the end of his 2-decade long career in the league, he is still serious about many things. Food definitely is one of them.

During the October 28 episode of Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams, the Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth revealed an interesting story. He told the host that he was touring with his fiancée, Jillian, in Ireland and DM’d A-Rod to come to the Steelers. But the response blew him away. While Rodgers had questions about the Steelers, one thing he asked surprised the TE. “He honestly just asked about the food in Pittsburgh,” the TE replied when Adams asked him to frame one question he got from the veteran signal caller.

It might be shocking for many, but Aaron Rodgers has worked hard to extend his NFL career. After a decade in the league in 2016, he changed his diet, inspired by Tom Brady’s strict eating habits. Until then, Rodgers followed what he called the 80/20 rule, eating healthy 80% of the time and whatever he wanted the other 20%.

Aaron Rodgers might not get one of his favorite receivers

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, also known as MVS, might not sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers, reuniting with his old quarterback, Aaron Rodgers from Green Bay. The Steelers had been looking for another wide receiver, and MVS was a natural choice because of his past success with Rodgers.

Valdes-Scantling started his career with the Green Bay Packers after being drafted in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft (174th overall). He spent four years there and became known as a deep-threat receiver. His best season came in 2020, when he caught 33 passes for 690 yards and recorded six touchdowns. His speed and ability to stretch the field made him a big part of Rodgers’ passing game.

At Pittsburgh, MVS was expected to help the offense with his experience and chemistry with Rodgers. The Steelers want more reliable options in the passing game, and MVS already knows how Rodgers plays and communicates on the field.

At the start of the year, Valdes-Scantling had the option to join the Steelers’ practice squad but chose to head to San Francisco instead.

“Obviously, I have a good relationship with Aaron Rodgers over there, and he wanted me back over there. So, it was a toss-up, 50/50. I had to weigh my options and see which one I wanted to do, which was going to be better for my career at this point, and I was excited about it,” he had said explaining his decision.

Even with the 49ers dealing with several injuries at wide receiver, he couldn’t carve out much of a role. In 141 snaps, he managed just four catches, a steep drop from his productive stint with the Saints, where he averaged over 22 yards per reception and found the end zone four times in only eight games.

He was placed on injured reserve by the San Francisco 49ers on Oct. 17 and was released a day later.

Aaron Rodgers, who maintains that MVS is one of his favorite teammates of all time, explained that MVS simply wants a spot on an active roster, not just a practice squad seat. And that makes sense, both for the playing time and the paycheck. Still, despite Pittsburgh’s own injury issues at wideout, it seems the Steelers weren’t ready to offer him a full-time role, leaving the door open for MVS to chase a fresh opportunity.

So, if not MVS, then the Steelers will have to keep looking for a new receiver. But Aaron Rodges will have a say in the decision they make.
