Aaron Rodgers has been the biggest supporter of Coach Tomlin, even saying the coach was the main reason he joined the Steelers this season. The team showed everyone that they can handle tough situations and win important games.

For now, Rodgers and his team have silenced the critics. If the Steelers make the playoffs, they still need to win a playoff game. If they don’t, all this good news won’t matter, and the calls to fire the coach will start again.

The Steelers have made their decision on their head coach, Mike Tomlin

After a tough 26-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills last week, some Pittsburgh Steelers fans were very angry. They started shouting “Fire Tomlin” at the Acrisure Stadium.

Even though Coach Tomlin has had a great career with the Steelers and hasn’t had a losing season in 18 years (a record!), the team has not won a playoff game since 2016. Fans are frustrated with the lack of recent success.

Despite the pressure from fans, the Steelers organization has already made a choice about Tomlin’s future. According to football insider Ian Rapoport, the Steelers will not fire Mike Tomlin at the end of the 2025 season.

“The Steelers know Tomlin is one of the NFL’s best coaches, and his relationship with Art Rooney and the organization he’s coached since 2007 is such that a firing is not on the table,” Rapoport reported on Sunday morning.

He further added that if Tomlin is not coaching the Steelers in 2026, it will only be because he chooses to leave the team on his own. However, the Steelers organization has an important deadline approaching for Coach Tomlin’s contract.

After this current season, his deal has two years left: 2026 and a team option for 2027. According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Steelers must decide whether to pick up that 2027 option by March 1, 2026. If they choose not to pick up the option, Tomlin would enter the 2026 season in the final year of his contract.
