Essentials Inside The Story
- Cooper Kupp's move to the Seattle Seahawks wasn't easy at all for the family
- Anna Kupp revealed the personal struggles behind the scenes
- The journey eventually led to an unexpected turnaround both on and off the field
Sometimes the hardest goodbyes come from the places that once felt like home. For eight years, wide receiver Cooper Kupp and his wife, Anna Marie Kupp, built their life in Los Angeles, raising three sons (Cooper, Cypress, and Solas) and forming a friendship that would last a lifetime. So, when the Los Angeles Rams released Kupp in early 2025, his and Anna’s world suddenly shifted north to the Seattle Seahawks. However, through it all, their family and friends stood by them, offering the emotional support they needed. On her blog, Mrs. Kupp opened up about the heartbreak, the tears, and the struggles that came with leaving behind the life they built in the City of Angels.
“I didn’t know what this year would hold. As a family, we had been blessed to stay in one place for eight years, an uncommon occurrence in this world. But with that, the roots we had planted grew deep. Being pulled away from relationships and a community we had cultivated and had prayed for was overwhelmingly painful,” Anna Kupp wrote on Substack.

“If I’m being honest, the first few months, I cried every day. Sobbed, sometimes, which is very uncharacteristic for me. My boys were sad, and I was exhausted and overwhelmed trying to make this new ‘adventure’ beautiful for them. But as heavy as the days felt, I kept showing up. I showed up every single day, and something beautiful really did happen. I slowly stopped crying as frequently. What happened next was truly such a pure testament of love and friendship.”
Anna Kupp shared that while she and Cooper kept showing up to handle their responsibilities each day, the people around them stepped in just as strongly. Friends welcomed them into this unfamiliar and emotional chapter, standing by their side through every step. For their first home game with the Hawks, the entire room was filled with close friends who had supported them, prayed for them, and walked through the uncertainty with them. Moreover, week after week, whenever it was possible, more friends made the trip to be there.

“I truly have never felt so loved and supported by my friends as I have this year. They showed up for me. I am so overwhelmingly thankful for the love I received through these sweet friendships we grew over our years in LA.”
Anna and Cooper are high school sweethearts who began dating in 2012. Later, the couple got engaged in 2014, and officially tied the knot the following year. Since then, their story has only grown. They have welcomed three children and continue to build a strong family. Now that they were facing a new challenge after moving from L.A. to Seattle, their friends and family were there to support them.
Kupp was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the third round (69th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. During his eight-year tenure with the Rams in Los Angeles, he accumulated 634 receptions for over 7,700 receiving yards and 57 touchdowns.
The receiver had a breakout season in 2021, for which he was named NFL Offensive Player of the Year. He also led the league in receiving yards, receptions, and receiving touchdowns. However, his production declined over the next few seasons, mainly because of injuries. This caused his games played to reduce from 17 to 9 to 12, which impacted his overall production.
As a result, Kupp was released by the Rams in 2025, and he later signed a three-year, $45 million deal with the Seattle Seahawks. While addressing the shift, Anna also shared how difficult the transition was for the family and how proud she is to have overcome the challenges.
“I didn’t know what this year would hold. As a family, we had been blessed to stay in one place for eight years, an uncommon occurrence in this world. But with that, the roots we had planted grew deep. Being pulled away from relationships and a community we had cultivated and had prayed for was overwhelmingly painful. But we did it.”
When the Kupp family arrived in Seattle, they moved into a house that was still empty. Living there alone with their three young boys while Cooper was fully tied up with training camp and preseason, for Anna, it was a nightmare. For a while, they even slept on a couch the previous owners had left behind. At first, it felt like a strange little adventure, but that feeling faded quickly. What stayed much longer was the ache of missing the life, the home they built in California, and everything they were forced to leave behind.
Nevertheless, with strong support from loved ones and a thrilling Super Bowl run, Anna and her family have started living comfortably in the new city.
However, as Anna Kupp spoke about her experience following the Rams’ exit, Cooper Kupp also shared his own emotions about what it felt like to walk away from the team after spending eight years with the franchise.

This change from the Rams to the Seahawks wasn’t an easy transition for Cooper Kupp, either. The veteran wide receiver also talked about the challenges he and his family had to face while moving to a new city and a new team in an interview with the NFL on FOX.
“It’s an unbelievable story,” Kupp said in a video shared by the NFL on Fox on Instagram in February 2026. “There were some really tough times this year for my family and I being a part of this organization. It wasn’t smooth and perfect. It wasn’t sunshine and rainbows.”
Despite the early struggles, Kupp spoke about the support from teammates and coaches and about the strong relationships he was able to build in just one season with the team.
“Day after day, my family showed up, the guys on this team, the coaches, coming in willing to work, coming in and caring about the guy next to them. I was saying I’ve never run block more in my life, but I had so much fun this year. The relationships with the guys in one year are so special.”
And that chemistry eventually translated to the field. Kupp’s first year with the Seahawks ended with winning the Super Bowl by defeating the New England Patriots 29-13.
Kupp played a crucial role for the Seahawks, with Jaxon Smith-Njigba having a tough time and even leaving the field with the possibility of a concussion, but Kupp picked up the pace and caught six passes for 61 yards.
Kupp also played a crucial role in the NFC Championship Game, catching four passes for 36 yards, including a 13-yard touchdown that sealed the deal for the Seahawks with their 31-27 win over Kupp’s former team, the Rams.
Kupp ended the season with 47 receptions for 593 yards and two touchdowns. Kupp’s second year with the Seahawks is looking promising, with the possibility of the Seahawks going for the Super Bowl.
