Saquon Barkley is just 101 rushing yards away from surpassing Eric Dickerson and breaking the record for the most rushing yards in a single season. In this regard, Barkley revealed, “I’m not overtly trying to get it. I’m not scared of it, but we’ve got bigger things we’re focused on. Whether we play next week or rest, I’m fine with that. I didn’t sign here just to break a record. I want to do something special with the team.”

That’s a true Philly attitude! Saquon said he wants to contribute to the team in a big way, not just by breaking records, but by taking them up to the Super Bowl. A true sportsman, period. Many people now know Saquon Barkley for his insane backward hurdle jump over the Jacksonville JaguarsJarrian Jones. But the record-breaking running back has been tearing up the league since his days with the Giants.

So far this season, the Eagles’ No. 26 has scored 13 touchdowns, which ranks him 5th in rushing TDs among running backs. Additionally, Barkley has attempted a staggering 315 rushing attempts, which places him 2nd in that category. And most importantly, for both his career and the Eagles, he has rushed for 1,838 yards, ranking first, and may soon take the top spot.

Saquon Barkley: Rushing to Break the Record

As you may know, the Eagles’ star RB needs just 101 more yards to break Eric Dickerson’s 2,105-yard record for rushing in a single season. How great is that, fam? It’s one of the rarest feats in NFL history, as Dickerson set this record in 1984—40 years ago! Pretty impressive, right? So, what does Eric Dickerson think about this ongoing feat?

When asked about Saquon Barkley potentially breaking his record, Eric Dickerson responded, “I don’t think he will break it. If he breaks it, he breaks it. Do I want him to break it? Absolutely not! I don’t pull any punches on that. But I’m not whining about it. He had 17 games to do it. Hey, football is football.”

In the end, whether Saquon Barkley breaks the record or not, his focus on helping the team is what truly sets him apart. With his determination and incredible talent, he’s already made a huge impact this season. The Eagles’ defense will definitely be tested, but no matter the outcome, Barkley’s pursuit of greatness is something fans will remember for years to come. Let’s see if he can make history!
