A thrilling comeback victory also cost the 49ers, with several players getting injured, including the talisman Christian McCaffrey. But will he and others be fit in time for the Super Bowl?

Christian McCaffrey went down in the fourth

As the 27-year-old running back went down in the fourth, fans and the head coach alike were scared at his awkward landing. “Yeah, he said he got a little bit of a stinger when he went down there, “ said Shanahan after the game. However, the 44-year-old head coach also believes his running back is good.

Even though McCaffrey did not return to the field after his injury, Shanahan said, “I know at the end, Christian was good to go back.” However, that might not be the case with his CB Ambry Thomas.

The 24-year-old Thomas injured his ankle in the fourth quarter, and Shanahan did not provide any updates regarding him. A niggling ankle injury could be brutal to overcome in such a short period. And Shanahan might not have the duties of the CB at his disposal for the Super Bowl rematch.

The 49ers are looking for a Super Bowl revenge

In February 2020, the Kansas City Chiefs dashed the 49ers’ hopes of claiming Super Bowl LIV. The 49ers led the game going into the fourth quarter. However, Patrick Mahomes’s supreme playmaking tangled their defense, and they leaked 21 points.

At the end of the game, the score was 20-31 in the Chiefs’ favor. However, after four years, the 49ers have a golden opportunity to right all the wrongs. With Christian McCaffrey and Brock Purdy this time, the 49ers can have their sixth-ever Super Bowl victory.
