The Los Angeles Rams are exceeding expectations with a blistering 6-2 start as they top the NFC West. With their 34-10 victory over the New Orleans Saints, head coach Sean McVay‘s squad has emerged as a dark horse contender this season. But after their dominant win at SoFi Stadium, a strange report from the Rams’ locker room has left many confused.

As the Rams regrouped, head coach Sean McVay took center stage and delivered a rousing post-game speech. He praised both the offense and the defense before handing out the game ball to Davante Adams, who moved into eighth all-time with 109 career touchdown receptions. But according to The Athletic’s Nate Atkins, the players didn’t engage in a long post-game chat after the victory.

Rather, Atkins reports,” Not much intel to pass along from the Rams locker room, as players only talked for a total of 6 minutes in there today.” The report also revealed that there was “No sight of Davante Adams, Kyren Williams, Josh Karty and others who had pretty big roles,” before stating, “I’ve never really seen that from a team after a home win before.”

While the off-field report was strange, their on-field performance was indubitably incredible. Stafford threw for 281 yards, hitting Adams for two touchdowns. Nacua returned from an ankle injury and caught seven passes for 95 yards and a TD. Williams rushed for 114 yards and another score. The offense just clicked.

As Los Angeles gears up for the San Francisco 49ers, these short locker-room meetings could be a lucky charm if they keep winning. Still, even after the dominant win over the Saints, Sean McVay made it clear he’s not fully satisfied.

Sean McVay unhappy despite dominant win

The Rams rolled past the Saints, but all wasn’t perfect. Two missed kicks in the first half, an extra point and a 39-yard field goal by Joshua Karty caught McVay’s attention immediately. It was the first time the Rams missed two kicks in the first half since Week 7 of 2023.

Addressing this issue, Sean McVay said that they ” Can’t continue like this.”

He expressed the need for improvement in this area as the Rams already have five misses, the second most in the NFL this season. Further, their 66.7% field goal percentage is the worst in the league.

McVay also noted these mistakes are a “momentum killer” and described these missed opportunities are “not sustainable to continuously go where we want to go.”

Special teams woes have popped up before. The Rams faced similar issues against the Philadelphia Eagles and the Baltimore Ravens, where the special teams failed to deliver. Sean McVay made it clear that if the Rams want a repeat of their 2022 championship-winning performance, this was an area they couldn’t ignore.
