Matthew Stafford’s 2025 season just culminated in the NFL announcing he has joined one of the most exclusive quarterback clubs in league history. After the Los Angeles Rams won their season finale against the Arizona Cardinals, the elite quarterback’s historic record was acknowledged by the NFL on social media.

The NFL posted on X that Stafford is the fourth QB in history with 40+ touchdowns and eight or fewer interceptions in a season. It’s a big-time record and arguably the best TD-to-INT ratio in one season of Stafford’s career. He had zero interceptions from Week 4 to 11, highlighting his ability to place the ball in empty spaces.

Stafford joins an exclusive club, a feat only previously accomplished by Tom Brady in his historic 2007 season, Lamar Jackson in 2024, and Aaron Rodgers, who remarkably hit the benchmark three separate times.

Aaron Rodgers – He has accomplished the feat in three separate seasons: 45-6 in 2011, 40-7 in 2016, and 48-5 in 2020

Lamar Jackson – 41-4 record in 2024

All of them were in their peak years when they made this record. But Stafford’s feat becomes extraordinary as he is a 37-year-old and was eyeing a contract somewhere else before the Rams restructured his deal. This year has been record-breaking for him.

He entered the season in tenth place in NFL all-time passing yards, but moved up to sixth place with 64,516 career passing yards. As we move into the postseason, he has a real chance of equaling Brady’s 2007 record of 56 TDs (regular + playoffs).

Stafford’s record-setting performance has not only rewritten the franchise history books but has also solidified the Rams’ position as legitimate Super Bowl contenders.

Matthew Stafford has shown dominance in almost every game

The Rams also shared a massive Stafford update. They tweeted that Stafford is the third player in history with multiple touchdown passes in 15 games in a season.

The other two players who have achieved this record are Dan Marino (48 touchdowns in 1984) and Peyton Manning (55 scores in 2013). Interestingly, both reached the Super Bowls, but neither of them won. Matthew Stafford wouldn’t want to repeat that aspect of history.

Stafford has scored multiple times in each game since the Week 6 game against the Baltimore Ravens. The only other game where he was held to a single touchdown was the season opener against the Houston Texans. He has scored a maximum of five touchdowns in the London game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 7. Now, the time has come to sharpen that offensive edge.

They have the wild-card playoff game against the Carolina Panthers next week. Will they repeat their trophy dreams? We’ll find out soon.
