Ian Rapoport also shared that these comments came before the Rams’ strong playoff run that took them to the title game. While no one knows if a Super Bowl win would lead Matthew Stafford to retire, it is clear he believes he still has plenty of good football left and wants to continue playing in the NFL.

A clip shared on X from ESPN’s Get Up last Thursday showed analyst Dan Orlovsky making it clear he already views Matthew Stafford as Hall of Fame material.

“I think he’s a Hall of Famer too,” Orlovsky said in the clip. Orlovsky believes a Super Bowl run would only strengthen Stafford’s Hall of Fame case, backed by his longevity, elite arm talent, and steady production, including his Super Bowl win with the Rams.
“I think he’s a Hall of Famer. But, if he wins this game and then wins the Super Bowl, I think he gets into the conversation for one of the top 10-15 quarterbacks of all time.”

Orlovsky went further, saying if Stafford wins this game and then the Super Bowl, he enters a different tier. He noted Stafford could move into the top 10–15 quarterbacks conversation if he earns a second ring. That point carries weight historically, as only 13 quarterbacks in NFL history have won more than one Super Bowl, placing Stafford among an exclusive group if he does it again.
