The Los Angeles Rams‘ playoff push just hit a major snag, and it involves the hamstring of their star receiver, Davante Adams. Head coach Sean McVay had then said that Adams was optimistic about recovering fast, but the coach didn’t see him getting healthy in time for the Week 16 game against the Seattle Seahawks.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, they are considering him on a week-to-week basis. He wrote, “That almost certainly knock him out for TNF (against Hawks).”
Yet, the big reveal was that Adams didn’t suffer a new injury, but rather re-aggravated his earlier hamstring injury. He was running downfield in the fourth quarter with his eyes tracking the ball, but suddenly limped before falling down during the no-contact play. The trainers rushed down onto the field and took him to the sidelines.

Adams was listed as questionable during the game and did not return as the Rams won 41-34. McVay was aware of the hamstring injury. Before the Week 15 game, he clearly said that he would be “very surprised” if Adams missed the game. That didn’t happen, though.
Adams had 4 receptions for 71 yards in the game before going out. However, McVay was disappointed with the finish, but he didn’t rule him out for the Week 16 Thursday game on December 18. The only issue for them is the short period between the two games.

Amid all this chaos, McVay revealed one very important thing. He said that Davante Adams knows his body really well. So if he said that he was fine, it means the Rams don’t have a big issue to worry about. But the real problem is the approaching playoffs. One big hit can put him out for the season.
Adams’ potential absence is made all the more critical by the lingering injury concerns surrounding his counterpart, Puka Nacua, who had his own scare in the same game.

Sean McVay is dealing with banged up receiving corps
On a play in the fourth quarter, Nucua’s leg got entangled with cornerback Amik Robertson’s leg, causing him to fall. But the fans got worried as he first failed to stand up on his own and then fell after his teammate and tight end Davis Allen picked him up.
While he was initially listed as questionable, he returned to the game soon. This season has been full of injuries for Puka Nacua. However, McVay always felt confident as Davante Adams covered up for Nacua in the Week 7 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with three touchdowns.

If both of them are out, they will be majorly depleted in their offense. Their best tight end, Colby Parkinson, has 31 receptions for 298 receiving yards and six touchdowns in 12 games. The absence of two key receivers will increase the pressure, as the opponents will target the running back. It will also force running back Kyren Williams to overextend his plays, which increases the risk of getting injured as well.
So, the issues are piling up, and he’ll need to shift his attention back to getting his roster healthy.
