Friday nights carry a different kind of excitement in high school football. “There is truly nothing like Friday night lights. Cheering on my Wesleyan Wolves and all the players tonight! And thinking about their mamas.. hoping they enjoy every moment,” posted Kelly Stafford on her IG story. “I could only imagine all the feelings of watching their own sons out there. Praying for safety for every player on that field.”

The Rams star quarterback’s wife captured the emotional side of game day as she turned her attention toward Wesleyan School’s football community and the families watching from the stands. It was a special moment with her nephew, Braden Winter, who plays for the Wesleyan Wolves.

Kelly shared the message with a picture of his nephew, while wishing him good luck. She didn’t just cheer for him but also reminded everyone that every helmet on the field represents someone’s son. And football is a physical sport where collisions can leave a parent holding their breath.

Wesleyan School’s football program is based in Peachtree Corners, Georgia, and the Wolves entered the 2026 season with a 10-game regular-season schedule. The schedule included games against Whitefield Academy, Elbert County, North Cobb Christian, Lovett, and Gilmer, among others.

Braden Winters is a student- athlete from the extended Hall family, which makes him a relative of Kelly Hall Stafford. The Hall family members, including Kelly, have a long-standing tradition of academic and athletic participation at Wesleyan School in Georgia.

Kelly is also inducted into the Wesleyan Athletic School Circle of Honor, as she was a high-profile basketball player and played for the Wesleyan Wolves.

Winters is a highly regarded young kicking prospect, making the night another opportunity for the Stafford family to watch his football journey unfold.

For Kelly, observing Winters compete made her proud, but also brought the natural concern that comes with watching someone you love play a rough sport. Matthew Stafford has spent years navigating the physical demands of the NFL as the Los Angeles Rams quarterback. She knows the physical toll it takes up close.

Yet her message was to enjoy the moment while also hoping every player is safe. For Winters, it is time to impress the coaches and scouts. His college destination is undecided as of now, leaving plenty of room for his football story to grow.
