The “jersey revenge game” between the Detroit Lions and the Los Angeles Rams is just around the corner. The Lions don’t like Matthew Stafford, and by the looks of it, he is not welcome there. For those who don’t know the history, Stafford traded places with the LA Rams and won a Super Bowl. The Lions didn’t like him for taking the easy way out.

They’ve banned Matthew Stafford jerseys from the Ford Field. In the wake of this rivalry, the fans have their input on the situation, and so does Pat McAfee. The “same old Lions” are not looking forward to seeing Matthew Stafford. The tables have turned now, and the Lions have done what they couldn’t do for the last three decades or so: clinch a division title.

McAfee pointed out how the Detroit Lions banned Matthew Stafford’s jersey from Ford Field out of animosity toward him. Despite Matthew Stafford playing for the Lions for 12 seasons, the Lions couldn’t come to terms with reality, and Pat McAfee dubbed it “petty games,” pointing out the jersey ban.

“So, I guess the Detroit Lions are trying to play a little petty games, well, same old Lions games,” said the host as he proceeded to read a report about the ban. What’s surprising is the fact that Kelly Stafford, the QB’s wife, thinks the opposite of the Lions. The report presented by McAfee implies that his wife has nothing but respect for the Detroit team.

“Well, this is sad because it’s the completely opposite of what we feel about this city but, Matthew has always been a bigger person and will continue to be that, praying for an incredible game with zero injuries,” wrote Kelly Stafford.

Did Matthew Stafford want this all along?

Stafford went to play for the Rams in 2021, and since then, he’s become a completely different athlete. However, the tweet from MLFootball shows that people still have strong sentiments against him. The tweet is captioned, “DAMN: #Lions fans have imposed a BAN on all Matthew Stafford jerseys for Sunday’s playoff game.”

The post has a very polarizing quote: “‘Detroit will not, and should not, be celebrating him this week. He is now our enemy. He asked to be traded. He didn’t believe in this franchise anymore and wanted the easy road with a ready-made winner,’ a statement put out said about Stafford who played 12 seasons in Detroit.”

Stafford is not welcome to the party; however, banning his jersey just because he made a choice for himself may be considered by some to be far-fetched. Hopefully, the Lions will be able to see past this in the future.
