Sunday’s battle against Mike Macdonald’s team marked a big milestone for Diggs, who is making his first Super Bowl appearance. However, it was quickly marred by heated on-field exchanges. The incident in focus came with less than ten minutes remaining in the second quarter.
With Seattle leading 6-0, the Patriots quarterback Drake Maye threw to Diggs on the left along the Seahawks’ sidelines for a five-yard catch on a tough 3rd-and-17. While catching it, the wide receiver couldn’t control his feet and ran right into the sideline. Although it wasn’t his fault, he also took his sweet time to return. Obviously, with the close gap in the scores, no team wants their opponent in their bench area, and a Seattle player apparently said something to Diggs.
He, naturally, turned back to react. Before anyone knew, both sides were ready to throw fists at each other. But before the situation could turn physical, a referee rushed in and pulled the 32-year-old away.
Had it spiraled out of control, the four-time Pro Bowler would have been badly outmatched. He could’ve made the situation worse for the Patriots by getting a penalty, or worse, by being ejected. Thankfully, he walked away without penalty.
The game moved on, but only for another controversy to erupt.

Early in the fourth quarter, Diggs got into a full-blown brawl with cornerback Josh Jobe, who was covering him on a route. Things went sideways when Jobe delivered a late hit on Diggs after the receiver was already out of bounds.
He confronted Jobe and tried to hit him on the helmet, leading the cornerback to punch Diggs. Receiver Mack Hollins and referees quickly jumped in to break it up.
Of course, both actions by Jobe are not allowed in the NFL. Still, he never caught a flag. So, after the incident, head coach Mike Vrabel also sprang into action, siding with his receiver. This on-field volatility comes as Diggs is also battling a major controversy away from the gridiron.
Stefon Diggs faced a major controversy away from the field
The wide receiver recently grappled with off-field trouble at the worst possible time. Just days ahead of Super Bowl LX, he faced a lawsuit by a former associate who once worked closely with him. According to court documents obtained by TMZ on February 6, his ex-colleague accused him of defamation, civil conspiracy, and related claims.
He alleged that Diggs offered help to arrange the transport of his Ferrari from Miami to New York and later to Houston. However, somebody stole the car while it was in Houston.
The filings suggest that the police later confirmed that the vehicle was present at outside parties, describing it as a “sophisticated theft.” Based on the former employee’s account, Diggs told their mutual connections that the plaintiff himself was responsible for the theft.
The man strongly denies the claim, saying the accusations harmed his concierge and consulting business and led to confrontations. He also revealed that people linked to Diggs followed him at restaurants. They reportedly even turned up at his home, demanding to return gifts the player had given them. Further, the lawsuit also mentions a January 2025 text message Diggs allegedly sent.
It stated he was “responsible and accountable for all actions of those around me.” The plaintiff also claims two men linked to the NFL player assaulted him in December 2025 at Tootsie’s Cabaret in Miami.
He alleged Diggs’ brother, Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs, witnessed the incident and did nothing to stop it. The man claimed he had suffered serious injuries, including a torn ACL. Currently, the plaintiff is seeking damages from both brothers.
Was the pressure of his first Super Bowl, compounded by a messy off-field lawsuit, too much for Stefon Diggs? His actions on Sunday suggest the star receiver was at his breaking point.
