Patrick Mahomes recently took time off during the Kansas City Chiefs’ bye week to visit Lubbock, Texas. In his college town, the Chiefs’ quarterback was spotted cheering his team, Texas Tech, in their November 8 clash. But beyond supporting his alma mater, Mahomes was there to back a meaningful cause as he met music star Josh Abbott.

Josh Abbott’s band recently shared an Instagram story thanking Patrick Mahomes for helping them raise a six-figure amount for a cause close to many hearts. Farzin Vousoughian’s NFL X account recently captured this moment as they took note of the band’s Instagram story.

“This dude helped us raise $130,000 at our benefit concert for @heavens27foundation. Wreck ’em,” the social media update read.

Patrick Mahomes proudly reposted the story on his Instagram account. Back in September, the Josh Abbott Band co-hosted the Deep in the Heart Benefit Concert in Austin, Texas. The event aimed to support the Heaven’s 27 Foundation, which was created in memory of the 27 children who tragically lost their lives in the North Texas floods at Camp Mystic in Kerr County.

The concert turned out to be a massive success, raising a total of $1.2 million, with Patrick Mahomes personally helping to bring in $130,000 of that total. The Heaven’s 27 Foundation later reposted the same story with the caption: “Appreciate you SO much 🫶”

The foundation thanked both Patrick Mahomes and the band for their generosity. Overall, it’s a heartwarming reminder that Mahomes continues to use his platform for a good cause. This came not long after his 15 and the Mahomies Foundation partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America to support youth programs nationwide. But as Mahomes celebrated one victory off the field, he also faced heartbreak on another front.

Patrick Mahomes’ team faces a tough loss in the NWSL playoffs

The Kansas City Current team, co-owned by Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, dominated the regular season in the National Women’s Soccer League. They had a league-best 65 points in 26 games. So, in the playoff quarterfinals, the Current arrived as the clear favorites against Gotham FC. However, the match didn’t go their way.

Gotham’s Jaedyn Shaw scored the opener in the 68th minute, assisted by Emily Sonnett. In the dying minutes, Ellie Wheeler was able to equalize to take the game into extra time. Then, in the final minutes of the game, Gotham sealed the win with a goal from Katie Stengel. Just like that, Patrick Mahomes’ $275M team’s playoff dreams were over.

This was a tough loss for a team that dominated all season. Despite the setback, Brittany Mahomes has been a driving force behind the Current’s rise. She has often spoken about her vision to make Kansas City a powerhouse in women’s sports

Ultimately, this loss also came after the Chiefs got handed a 28-21 loss by the Buffalo Bills in Week 9. Still, if there’s one thing Patrick Mahomes is known for, it’s resilience. Whether it’s bouncing back after a tough game or stepping up to help a cause in need, he always finds a way to make an impact.
