It’s all or nothing when Carson Wentz comes into the picture. Though he has had his highs and lows, people often either remember him as the guy who threw a pick-six at the Colts AFC divisional game or describe him as the QB who remains “frozen” when the system around him doesn’t work per his choice. Due to the unfortunate positions he has been in and the injuries he has suffered, since the inception of his NFL career, the QB has been a part of 5 teams.

This includes the Kansas City Chiefs, with whom he just signed as a backup QB for Patrick Mahomes. While some deem him fit in the team for the QB sneak problem the Chiefs faced, others like Pat McAfee don’t seem to be too impressed by his entry into the reigning champion team.

Pat McAfee jokingly started the conversation stating that Wentz would be a multiple Super Bowl winner now that he’s joining the Chiefs. The former Colts punter then moved on to the serious part of the discussion and stated his reasons behind the apprehensions about the Chiefs’ new backup QB.

The fact of the matter is that Carson Wentz is injury-prone and has amassed several injuries including a concussion and several leg injuries. These injuries take a toll on his game sometimes, which leads to McAfee questioning the probability of relying on the backup QB.

Starting the line of thought, McAfee pointed out that there seems to be no lack of talent for Carson on the gridiron, “This guy will sniff something out, a play out until he is dead, or the play is completely over, and the ball Is going in completely opposite direction.”

He then added, “The other side of Carson Wentz is when he is shot putting a left-handed interception pick six for zero yards to a divisional rival in the AFC South Championship game in the fourth quarter which is what he actually did do with the Indianapolis Colts.”

“Now the very next drive though he was scrambling, fell over got tackled put the ball on the ground balanced himself off it, threw it into triple coverage Michael Pitman Jr goes and makes a play all of a sudden, we’re playing Carson Wentz football. He is an actual roller coaster of football,” McAfee continued to say.

The perspective from the former NFL punter reflects the ups and downs the QB has faced in his career, paving the way for criticism from McAfee and others to settle in. But regardless of Pat McAfee’s assessment, there are other ways that Wentz can potentially fit in the KC Chiefs’ offensive schemes.

The Chiefs might have a plan for their probable new QB2!

In a recent episode of First Things First, Nick Wright pointed out that the Chiefs have had a problem with sneaking their QBs behind enemy lines. On one occasion, Patrick Mahomes dislocated his knee socket, and the Chiefs might not want to risk that again.

Wright said that the Chiefs signing the new QB could mean that they are interested in using him as a QB sneak guy, as that play is something Carson particularly holds command over. Though Wentz has shown potential in the past, and even had an image of the MVP in the eyes of some, he gets rusty sometimes on the field. Maybe the experience of Andy Reid and the challenging position within the Chiefs can help him get back on track!
