The Green Bay Packers celebrated Thanksgiving by beating the Detroit Lions in a roaring 31-24 win. The victory even pushed them to tie with the Chicago Bears for first place in the NFC North with an 8-3-1 record. But guess what? The clash took an unexpected turn late in the game as the Packers’ defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt fell to the ground. Now, an NFL doctor has shared some serious concerns.

According to Morse, Wyatt’s NFL season could be over because of a fracture in his ankle. The player suffered a frightening injury during the fourth quarter, with around three minutes remaining in the game. In a clip shared by SM Highlights on X, a teammate accidentally rolled onto Wyatt’s leg as he was about to hit the ground. It was just moments after the Packers made a big third-down stop.

Shortly, trainers rushed to his side before the cart arrived on the field to take the player. The sight at the Ford Field proves the doctor’s claim that the injury may be significant. While the defensive tackle lifted his hand to signal to the crowd that he was alright, it’s too soon to predict anything. As for his performance, Devonte Wyatt had recorded four total tackles, including three solo stops.

Overall, this has been a strong season for the 27-year-old with four sacks and 23 tackles, out of which 12 are solo. With defensive end Micah Parsons raising his unit’s standards, Wyatt has emerged as one of the team’s most reliable defenders. The Packers must be hoping that his injury isn’t severe enough to end a season that has shown so much promise.

LaFleur’s reaction signals trouble for Devonte Wyatt

While nothing has been officially confirmed, head coach Matt LaFleur’s comments in the post-game conference raise alarms. NFL columnist Zach Jacobson highlighted that LaFleur’s tone strongly hinted that the injury has sent Devonte Wyatt packing.

“It doesn’t look good, guys. I’m sick for him. I’m sick for us,” the coach said. “That’s a critical loss for our football team and for our defense. I can’t say enough great things about him in terms of just watching him mature, not only as a football player, but as a person. I’ve got a lot of love for Devonte Wyatt and the whole locker room does, too.”

Meanwhile, USA Today’s Ryan Wood added to the concern by saying that Wyatt’s absence could be a “big blow” to the Packers’ defense. He shared Micah Parsons’ post-game reaction, where he discussed Wyatt’s impact both on the field and in the locker room.

“You guys see the difference he makes when he got back out on the field,” he said. “And I mean, he’s a player you can’t replace.”

First off, Parsons admitted not knowing what unfolded on the field until he reached the locker room. And of course, the injury news hit him hard, and he’s “praying” for Wyatt. But what’s the way forward for the team if Wyatt remains out for the remaining season? The linebacker said that his team will now have to rely heavily on its younger players.

He also acknowledged the challenge ahead, saying they’ll need to double down on fundamentals and details to fill in for someone irreplaceable. For now, Parsons wants Devonte Wyatt to get everything he deserves in the offseason. In the meantime, check out former cornerback Champ Bailey’s take on HC Sean Payton’s impact on the Denver Broncos and their AFC playoff chances.
