We got our second 10-7 grinder of the week on Monday Night Football, as the Green Bay Packers came up short against the Philadelphia Eagles. The score says plenty. The defense did its job, but the offense never found a rhythm. After the defeat, the Packers’ head coach Matt LaFleur didn’t sugarcoat it.

“Unfortunately, there’s absolutely no moral victories in our sport. But I was proud of our guys’ effort. I thought they battled for four quarters. Our defense was outstanding, and unfortunately, just too many mistakes offensively to overcome. If you hold good football teams to 10 points, you should win the football game in my opinion,” the head coach remarked.
Well, HC LaFleur is not wrong. When you hold down a Jalen Hurts-led offense to just 10 points, that should be enough to get it done. But look how that turned out.

Seven days after holding the Panthers to 16 points in a loss, the unit followed it up by keeping the Eagles quiet for most of the night. They didn’t allow a single point until midway through the third quarter, and the first touchdown didn’t come until the early minutes of the fourth. On paper, this could’ve been a lopsided game. The defense made sure it wasn’t.
The offense couldn’t hold up its end. Green Bay didn’t put a point on the board for the first 54 minutes. When they finally got the ball back, down three with under two minutes left, there was a small window for another Lambeau finish. Instead, the Eagles closed the door.
They just can’t seem to finish drives or capitalize when the defense delivers. Micah Parsons’ arrival has turned that side of the ball into a borderline top-five unit. But when the offense keeps coming up empty, it hardly matters. In this league, it doesn’t matter how few points you allow if you can’t outscore the other team.

Among a lot of things that went wrong in the offense, Jordan Love’s fumble was one of them. And HC Matt LaFleur addressed it after the game.

Matt LaFleur on Jordan Love’s fumble
QB Love didn’t throw a single pick tonight, but he did have a fumble that prevented a rare scoring chance in the second quarter when he was trying to avoid a sack. It was his second fumble of the season.
“I gotta go back and see it. However, the guy is battling. It’s not for a lack of effort, obviously. He’d rather take a sack than fumble, but I know he’s trying to get rid of the football. It is what it is. It’s been very, very choppy as of late,” LaFleur said.
Love finished 20-of-36 for 176 yards, sacked three times, and didn’t get much help around him. The Packers didn’t find the end zone until Josh Jacobs’ six-yard touchdown run with just under six minutes left. And even that felt like too little, too late.

The reality is, Love’s working with a thin cast right now. Jayden Reed, Matthew Golden, and tight end Tucker Kraft were all unavailable. Romeo Doubs left mid-game with an injury. Dontayvion Wicks and Bo Melton combined for just six catches on 13 targets against an Eagles secondary led by veteran Adoree’ Jackson.
Still, it’s on Love to steady the ship. Injuries or not, the Packers need more from their quarterback if they’re going to stay in the playoff mix. The defense is doing its job. But until the offense starts pulling its weight, these games are going to keep ending the same way.
