The Green Bay Packers‘ offense hit a wall against the Philadelphia Eagles. Tight end Tucker Kraft’s injury and their struggles in the 10-7 loss in Week 10 explain why. Knowing the nature of injuries and the competition, the Packers quarterback Jordan Love isn’t waiting for the coaching staff to find a solution.

Love is seemingly urging coach Matt LaFleur to make changes and lean on more wide receivers than tight ends.

“No matter who you’re talking about, you have to be able to overcome injuries,” Love said when asked about Kraft’s status. “We’ll do more 11 personnel and not have as many 12 personnel sets or 13 personnel. It all comes back to finding ways to attack the defense.”

Love’s call for a new approach stems from an offensive performance that was historically poor. Their offense, which remained scoreless through three quarters of the game, was tough to watch this week. This marks the third time in LaFleur’s tenure that the team has been held scoreless for three quarters, and the pressure wasn’t limited to Love. Coach LaFleur equally felt the pressure.

While he praised the team’s effort, the coach mentioned the issues.

“I thought they battled for four quarters. Our defense was outstanding, and unfortunately, just too many mistakes offensively to overcome. If you hold good football teams to 10 points, you should win the football game in my opinion.”

Even back in Week 9, the Packers were limited to 13 points against the Carolina Panthers due to the mistakes on the offense. They scored only six points on their first four trips into the red zone. In the same game, they lost Kraft to a torn ACL in his right knee after a collision. He had been Jordan Love’s most reliable downfield option, and his absence was felt immediately.

Against the Eagles, Love struggled, completing only 20 of 36 passes for 176 yards with no touchdowns. The Packers’ offense managed just 261 total yards and went 5-for-13 on third downs. The coach decided to focus on the run game more than passing, limiting Love’s opportunities to throw the ball.

But that change in game plan didn’t help the team. Without Kraft to keep drives alive, the Eagles had a much easier time shutting down Green Bay’s offense.

After the game, Love admitted that the team needs to be better.

Jordan Love addressed the issue with turnovers

Just two weeks ago, the Packers rested in first place in the NFC North. However, after two losses, the team tumbled down quickly to third place, with a 5-3 record.

In the game against the Eagles, there were costly turnovers that shifted the game’s result. In fact, one of his fumbles also posed a problem for the Packers.

“Not good enough. It all starts with taking care of the ball. Turnovers are something that’s been hurting us in these close games,” Love addressed the issue. “I’ve got to find ways to overcome that (fumbles) and keep being smart with the ball.”

During the second quarter, Eagles linebacker Nakobe Dean forced a fumble on Love. And outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips was quick to recover the ball, giving the possession to the Eagles. This was one of the reasons the team struggled to score for quite a long time during the game.

The turnover was a back-breaking mistake that stalled any offensive momentum, and the Packers will look to avoid this in the next game. Whether coach LaFleur leans on Love’s plan is still a question.
