“Alabama QB Jalen Milroe has accepted an invitation to attend the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay.” An NFL reporter hit the football world with this fascinating news. Looks like day one of the NFL draft 2025 is going to be cool for Jalen Milroe, right? There must be a lot of happy Alabama football fans to see their star cementing his name in the NFL on day 1 of the draft. But what if we tell you this is not the case? His day 1 prospects are far from assured.
Since Brugler posted the above update on X that Jalen Milroe accepted the invitation, there were a lot of headlines swirling through social media. The NFL generally sends invitations through email and in the form of a letter to the prospect, where Roger Goodell invites them with their family. From the Steelers to the Packers, Milroe’s name was swinging from one point to another. But another NFL insider has dropped a bombshell. “Tell you the NFL thinks Milroe will be a first-rounder but doesn’t guarantee it.” Nick Farabaugh has retweeted Brugler’s post saying this.

Another shocking update Brugler gave was that Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders would not attend the draft. But to focus on Milroe, there is another reason Milroe would mostly be the first-round pick, as the NFL mostly invites those prospects who have the most chances to pick up on day one of the draft. According to Saints Wire, “Milroe receiving an invite means the decision makers believe he has a chance of being drafted highly.” The Alabama Crimson Tide QB is currently at 45th prospect per the 2025 Consensus Big Board of the NFL mock draft database. The board also says that Milroe could be the 18th pick. But per Farabaugh, Milroe will have to wait until April 25, 2025.
The reason behind Milroe skidding down to day 2 but looking at his stats, the 21-year-old QB is pretty impressive on the field. In the 2024 season itself, Milroe has landed 16 touchdowns for 2844 yards after completing 205 out of 319 passes at a 64.3% completion rate. Throughout his college career, he has scored 45 touchdowns while passing for 6016 yards. But while he has killed it, there is enough competition between QBs, DTs, and WRs in the 1st round. Let’s see if Farabaugh’s update becomes true.
If the update proves true, Mike Tomlin’s Pittsburgh Steelers franchise is showing significant interest in Milroe, signaling a potential shift in their quarterback strategy. Meanwhile, Matt LaFleur‘s Green Bay Packers are actively planning to land the talented player, with hopes of securing his future in Wisconsin as part of their evolving roster plans.
The Steelers are interested in Alabama QB Jalen Milroe
Two weeks ago, many sources reported that the Steelers and Mike Tomlin met with Jalen Milroe. But instead of getting into the rumors, let’s check out what Milroe himself told about meeting the Steelers HC and officials after having dinner. As we know, Mike Tomlin and Art Rooney II have a 4-QB plan, which was recently disrupted by Jerry Jones after the Joe Milton trade. And that is why they are looking for a long-term and younger QB.

While talking about the Steelers, Alabama QB said Wednesday, “I just loved having that opportunity to meet with the Steelers.” And also added, “I just remember watching the AFC North and the battles they have. So, having the opportunity to be around Coach Tomlin, I don’t take it lightly at all.” And while looking at the opportunity to land in the Steel City, he also said, “If the opportunity presents itself for me to be his quarterback, I’ll take full advantage of it.” But this is not the end of the story. The Packers are also, reportedly, interested in Milroe.
Well, that definitely adds more fuel to the fire with all the rumors and buzz surrounding Jalen Milroe’s draft prospects. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what goes down on either April 24 or 25, 2025. It’s going to be interesting for sure!
