After dealing with major injuries in the game against the Indianapolis Colts, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin shared a cryptic message after the game. The Steelers once were leading by 13 points; however, the lead was short-lived, and the game ended with the Colts securing a victory by a 17-point lead.

The game between the Colts and the Steelers witnessed several injuries in both camps. However, the Colts dealt with the injuries wisely but the Steelers fell prey to the injuries of their major defensive players. Following this disappointing defeat, Mike Tomlin was upset with the game’s result and shared his opinion on the injuries that somewhat decided the game’s result.

Mike Tomlin’s message

The Pittsburgh Steelers YouTube channel shared a video of the press conference featuring head coach Mike Tomlin. Tomlin was asked about the status of the injuries. The Steelers’ defensive tackle, S. Trenton Thompson, and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick suffered injuries and were ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Following this, when asked about the injury status, Tomlin said, “I don’t wanna speculate”. Moreover, he added that there’s some specific nutrition going on, and after the injury reports, they are going to assess the injuries. 

With this defeat, the Steelers are at the bottom of the AFC North divisions and are almost out of the race to playoffs. However, HC Tomlin also accepted that fundamentally, the Steelers are a poor football group.

After losing against the Colts, the Steelers lodged their seventh defeat of the season. With Seven victories and seven defeats, the Steelers are at the bottom of the AFC North division. Following the Steelers’ losing drill, coach Tomlin said, “Let’s be honest right, we’re a fundamentally poor football group right now. We’re playing, and losing football and I take responsibility for that. By losing football, I mean we’re just not doing fundamental things well enough we’re not turning the ball over, we’re highly penalized we don’t play good in situations.”

The game ended with the Colts securing a victory with a scoreline of 30-13. After this victory, the Colts are standing strong in the second position of the AFC North division, with eight victories and six defeats in the 2023 NFL season. In the Colts’ victory, quarterback Gardner Minshew was a major contributor. He scored three touchdowns and completed 18 of 28 passes for 215 yards.
