Frankfurt is set to host the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9’s NFL Sunday. Following an embarrassing loss to the Lions, the Chiefs racked up an amazing string of results. But it all ended when they visited Empower Field in Week 8, which ended their run of six consecutive victories. Meanwhile, they may point to injuries to Patrick Mahomes and other stars for their loss. The Chiefs do not have the same luxury when they take on the Dolphins.

Andy Reid and Co. will hope to bounce back after losing to the Denver Broncos with minimal blow to their roster. But should they fail, it may be the turning point to decide if they match last year’s run or fall to mediocrity.

Kansas City Chiefs banking on minimal injury concerns

Chiefs haven’t had the best of luck this season with injuries in the NFL. While they haven’t had it as bad as their fellow opponents, it has been dire in instances. So far this season, the Chiefs have lost Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes at least once. But that isn’t the case for Week 9, as Andy Reid will be lucky to find his two stars fit and available.

The Chiefs have just one player unavailable for their game against the Dolphins in Clyde Edwards-Helaire. It will be a blow for the Chiefs, as Clyde has played all eight games this season. Two potential absentees, Willie Gay and Richie James, could join him as the match edges closer to kick-off. While the two remain questionable, the prospect of having his main men fit and available will excite both Reid and the fans.

The Chiefs will look to capitalize on their fit roster against the Dolphins. With Mahomes and Kelce being their main men, are there any other players they can call upon to aid their cause against the Dolphins?

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have established their names as among the best in their positions. But it has led many to believe they cannot perform without their star men on the field. Although last week’s loss to the Broncos will act as obvious evidence, it would be naive to back up the narrative off of one game. Stars like Isaiah Pacheco, Chris Jones, and Harrison Butker have bailed out the Chiefs in their time of need.

Pacheco has rushed 459 yards for the Kansas City Chiefs, which has aided the Chiefs offense plentiful. With Butker’s 18 field goals made for the Chiefs, it is joint most in the entire NFL. On the defensive end, Chris Jones hasn’t been tearing up the back papers as many would have expected. But his eight tackles and 5.5 sacks so far rip the notion that the Chiefs are lost without Mahomes or Kelce.

Andy Reid has the luxury to name one of his strongest lineups against the Dolphins. Should the Chiefs lose, they’ll only have themselves to blame while the Dolphins deal with their injury hammer blow.
