As soon as the 2024 season kicked off, fans expected Travis Kelce to shine through and become a significantly big asset for the Kansas City Chiefs. The consecutively two-time Super Bowl winners are still undefeated so far into the new season. However, their star-tight end was not in the spotlight in the past three games. But, as a fan, you need not worry because an NFL legend claims this is all part of a plan.

Julian Edelman recently sat down in an interview on the Gojo and Golic show. He spent a huge chunk of his NFL career working with the New England Patriots. The team secured some consecutive Super Bowls, and this is exactly where the Chiefs are also headed. The co-host considered Edelman the best NFL player to give insights on Travis Kelce’s situation.

According to the retired wide receiver, the Kansas City TE is not struggling at all. On the contrary, he thinks the situation is rather “scarier” for the opponents. “I am not really worried about Travis Kelce right now. You worry about Travis Kelce in December and January because that’s where this team’s at now,” said Edelman. “I guarantee Mahomes [is] looking at Travis and saying, ‘Hey man, I just need you in December-January. Let’s keep you healthy.’

He considered it a scary situation for other teams because the Chiefs are learning how to win without Travis Kelce‘s heavy involvement. “Once it becomes a must-win or gotta have it situation, you know Travis Kelce is going to be there,” added the former Patriots WR.

Edelman believes that Travis Kelce will pull through for his team when he is required to do so. As for the regular season, even Patrick Mahomes has acknowledged the 34-year-old’s inactivity on the field.

Teams are trying their best to cover Travis Kelce

The younger Kelce brother was such a menace on the field during the last two seasons that the teams have learned a hard lesson. As per their experience, whatever happens, don’t leave the Chiefs’ tight end wide open.

In all the games so far, we can see the opponents carrying out this tactic pretty well. They are trying their best to contain his play but in the wake of keeping Kelce at bay; they are letting other team members score and become just as ruthless in the gridiron.

Patrick Mahomes acknowledged Travis Kelce’s slow start this season. He explained to the NFL world that the tight defenses on the TE are to be blamed for the same. “I mean we’re calling a lot of plays for Travis and it’s like two or three people are going to him,” explained Mahomes.

Moreover, the quarterback also promised the Chiefs Kingdom that he would be “feeding him” more pass plays in the future. What are your thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments.
