Essentials Inside The Story

  • Josh Allen says that becoming a father is the most important thing he will ever do
  • Hailee's movie Sinners had a massive night, winning four Academy Awards
  • Hailee's mom hosted an intimate baby shower for her daughter

Sunday’s Academy Awards saw major wins and strong performances, but Buffalo Bills’ star quarterback Josh Allen’s wife, Hailee Steinfeld, was not in attendance. Her absence was hard to miss, especially with her connection to one of the night’s biggest wins, Sinners. The NFL star’s wife later took to her newsletter and shared the reason behind her absence from the Oscars.

“On a sunny Saturday in LA, my mom and about 30 women I love so much gathered in my most comfortable place — my backyard — for a baby shower,” Hailee Steinfeld wrote in her Beau Society newsletter. “My mom planned the entire gorgeous thing.”

Hailee shared that the baby shower was kept simple and personal, where the setup followed a soft nursery rhyme idea, with books and small details placed across the space.

“Looking around and seeing this amazing group of women… meant so much. I can’t believe this little person is already so loved,” the newsletter read.

Another highlight of the baby shower was a knitting activity planned by her mother. Each guest made a small piece, which will later be knitted together into a blanket. This added a meaningful touch to the celebration, making it more than just a one-day gathering.

Steinfeld has mostly kept her pregnancy private, with only a few updates shared through her newsletter.

In December 2025, the Sinners star and Josh Allen confirmed that they are expecting their first child with a short video, where Allen was seen kissing her baby bump.

The timing of the baby shower also suggests that the couple is close to welcoming their child. While an exact due date has not been publicly confirmed, earlier this year, Josh Allen revealed how he feels about becoming a father.

“I’m very much looking forward to that with my wife… It’s something that I will take with great pride,” Allen said.

He also made it clear how important this phase is for him.

“This is the most important thing I’ll ever be in my life, being a dad.”

Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen were first linked in May 2023, when they were spotted together in New York City. A few months later, in August, Allen spoke about his relationship during a podcast appearance, confirming the attention around them.

From then on, the two kept things mostly private, but their relationship continued to grow. In 2025, the couple got engaged and later married in a small ceremony in Malibu on May 31.

Now, with the baby expected soon, this celebration marks an important step as they prepare for what comes next. And while Steinfeld spent the weekend celebrating one of the most special days of her life, she didn’t miss out on Hollywood’s biggest night either.

Hailee Steinfeld may not have been physically present at the Academy Awards, but she didn’t miss a single moment. Hailee joined the celebrations from home as Sinners had one of the biggest nights at the Oscars. The movie won the prestigious award in four different categories.

  • Autumn Durald Arkapaw – Best Cinematography
  • Michael B. Jordan – Best Actor

“I think I cried the whole show! Between Miles’ performance (with Jayme and Lili AND Misty Copeland???) and Michael, Ryan, and Ludwig winning,” Steinfeld wrote in her newsletter.

“Then Autumn accepting her Oscar as Ryan ran her son Aiden up the aisle to get a closer look at his mama, making history! It was a magical night watching my entire Sinners family shine.”

Michael B. Jordan also took a moment during his acceptance speech to thank Hailee Steinfeld, noting that she was at home getting ready to welcome the baby.

Directed by Ryan Coogler, Sinners is set in the 1932 Mississippi Delta and follows a story shaped by race, identity, and survival. The film blends personal relationships with larger social realities, which is a big reason it connected so well with audiences and saw strong success at the box office.

In the film, Hailee Steinfeld plays Mary, a multiracial woman struggling with her identity and the pressure of living under the “one-drop rule.” Her journey is deeply personal, but it also reflects the harsh realities of that time.

Through her relationship with Stack, the story brings together elements of love, conflict, and danger, while also touching on themes of discrimination and belonging. Steinfeld’s performance stood out for how naturally she carried both the emotional and social weight of the role.

With Sinners winning big at the Academy Awards, the moment became special both professionally and personally for Hailee as she prepares for the next phase of her life, that is, motherhood.
