Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins have had very bad luck when it comes to winning winter games. Understandably, the cold weather doesn’t suit Miami players. But at one point in the game, the commentators announced how Miami flew into Wisconsin with a ton of winter gear to combat that condition. However, they still failed to stop Jordan Love’s caravan.

The 30-17 loss to Green Bay had their RB Josh Jacobs taking shots at Miami. He took a jab at his team for not being able to perform well. He was in the locker room with a face mask on when he mentioned how “Them boys looked cold out there.” With this loss, Miami has slipped to 5-7 and is on the cusp of being sidelined from the playoffs hunt.

Per ESPN’s report, “Lambeau Field was 27 degrees (-2.7 Celsius) with 10-mph winds, light flurries, and a wind chill of 18.” As it happens, the Miami QB held a 0-7 record in the games where the temperature was 45 degrees or lower, with a passer rating of 71.13 in those contests. That was pretty clear when Miami met the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead and they played in a negative 4-degree temperature in the last season.

You know the temperature difference between both places is real when you see Packers players in tank tops and shorts and Miami players in sweatshirts, sweatpants, and beanies. It was only Tyreek Hill, who had short sleeves on during the pre-game warmups. His time at KC prepared him for harsh weather conditions.

However, Tua didn’t look bad as far as the numbers were concerned. 365 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 37 of 46 completed passes isn’t a bad stat line at all. But yeah, “Them boys looked cold out there.” Hence substantiating Josh Jacobs’s words.

The Dolphins didn’t even score their first touchdown till 2:43 in the third quarter (14-yard pass from Tua to Achane). Then, they scored another one on a 12-yard pass to Tyreek Hill from the Dolphins QB. Safe to say, it took a while for the Dolphins to warm up. On that note, let’s revisit Tua’s comments before the Packers game.

Tua Tagovailoa was optimistic about the game at Lambeau

The college that Tua Tagovailoa attended (Alabama), and the place he currently resides in (Miami), host temperatures nowhere near Green Bay or Kansas City. He’s just not attuned to the cold, harsh weather. But he tried to overcome those problems by adjusting his mindset coming into the game. Sadly, the Dolphins were short of mental fortitude.

“We’re obviously nowhere near the temperatures where all these other cold teams play at being in Miami, where it’s 80,” said Tagovailoa. “Sometimes it gets down to 50, but it just gets nowhere near the teams that make it in long stretches. To me it’s just a mindset, that’s really all it is.”

However, the Dolphins QB knew what people were saying about his performance in the cold. And he wanted to bury those speculations before meeting Josh Jacobs and his team. “I’m excited to kill narratives,” Tagovailoa said this week. “So let’s go. Bring it on.” Though Tua didn’t adopt that mindset, he still has time to silence those speculations when the Dolphins visit Cleveland on December 30th, a city that faced a blizzard during the Steelers game.
