After Colorado’s pro day, Shedeur Sanders dropped pointy nukes in the NFL world. “All I need is opportunity. Simple. Whatever franchise wants to change the franchise, there’s no doubt who to go with.” He was talking to ESPN reporters after the Pro Day. And after listening to all the chatter that is going on, he only added, “I’ve done it over and over and over. So you’ll be a fool not to pick me.” Shedeur’s fiery response was only to the Titans, but to Joe Schoen and the Giants, also.
It’s the talk of the town that if you talk about the first 10 picks of the NFL 2025 drafts, there’s one team in the first three that has a chance to make or break their season with a young and long-term quarterback like Shedeur. It’s the New York Giants. Currently, John Mara’s Giants have Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson, but per analysts, they can go for a long-term QB. But to get him, the GM Joe Schoen has to pull up his socks.
Actually, to get Shedeur in round one would be the only chance the Giants will have, per reports. And to get him in round 1, Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport have strategic advice for John Mara. Talking about the draft on NFL Network, the insiders believe, “What the Giants at No. 3 all depend on their evaluation of Shedeur Sanders. One thing is clear — if they believe he’s a franchise QB, taking him at 3 is the only way to guarantee they get him.” But why do insiders think that the Giants would cross for Shedeur and pick another prospect if people are talking too much about Shedeur? Dianna Russini has an answer for it.

When insider Russini was on the Herd with Colin Cowherd podcast on April 16, she dropped a terrifying update for New York fans who want Shedeur. So, the story is, as a part of the last-minute analysis, the Giants team landed in Boulder
City. It looks like they are entertaining Shedeur and giving him so much attention, right? But that would be a ‘black bull in the dark’ moment, which will hit you hard. Russini said, “The owner is not even going to the private workouts. So, that tells you what you wanna know.” Looks like a proper gamble!
The reporters know this thinking, and that’s why they advise Joe Schoen. If Mara is picking up another prospect, probably other than QB, he should get him as the 3rd overall only. Otherwise, the Las Vegas Raiders and other teams are ready to pick this talent, who now looks foolish or amateur to many, but he has the potential to make the top drafting teams of 2025 regret it in a few years. Mike Schlereth has perfectly described what qualities Shedeur Sanders holds in a recent podcast. But wait. There is a twist to the story. A massive twist.
What’s your perspective on:
Will the Giants regret passing on Shedeur Sanders if he becomes the next NFL superstar?
Have an interesting take?
What if the Browns pick Shedeur Sanders?
Yes. That is what John Mara and the Giants have in their rival team’s hands. As we know, the Cleveland Browns hold the 2nd overall pick. There is a high probability, per reports, debates, mock drafts, and insider sources, that the Browns would pick Travis Hunter. But here is the catch. Just pan a camera to the Browns’ quarterback situation.
As doctors said, and Tom Pelissero also confirmed in January, the Browns QB Deshaun Watson is going through a recovery of his Achilles tendon, which was injured 2nd time. So, there is a hazy situation in the Browns’ front office about whether Deshaun Watson will return or not. Pelissero has already said that Watson will probably miss the whole season.

And that’s why the Browns are in desperate search for a QB more than a wide receiver or a DB. So, isn’t there a possibility of Shedeur going to Cleveland? Who knows? But if Mara wants to draft Sanders for the future, they will have to pass Kevin Stefanski’s Cleveland Browns. All we are talking about here is the Giants scenario based on proper insider knowledge. But what if the situation changes and the Browns pick Shedeur?
Then the Giants have one more option, which that prospect also confirmed a few days ago. It’s Abdul Carter. A few days ago, on April 10, 2025, the Penn State edge Abdul Carter posted a picture of the Giants’ great defensive player, Lawrence Taylor. And the text in that picture says, “Once a Giant, always a Giant.” And Ian Rapoport also reported that saying, “Hmm.”

If the prospect is posting it on social media when he is obviously a top contender. That is not a coincidence. If Joe Schoen’s Giants might have talked to Carter, why waste time in a private workout where the GM is also not there? Too much of a tricky situation, right? I think a lot depends on the Cleveland Browns. What do you think?
