had one of the best games against the Chiefs. The Jaguars have finally found the secret to unleashing Hunter’s ability on both sides of the line, as he earned a 77.3 grade as a receiver and a 76.9 grade as a corner. But after his heroics in the last game, analysts are predicting he is poised for a bigger role.

Yesterday, Jaguars’ beat reporter Prete Prisco appeared on the CBS Sports show. When asked about his expectations for Hunter in week 6 against the

Seattle Seahawks, Prisco made some bold predictions. “I think he is going to get two touchdowns since he hasn’t got there yet.” He even admitted his prediction was bold. “That’s a very bold because he hasn’t scored the touchdown yet on the season”

Such bold predictions from Prisco must have stemmed from Hunter’s last game performance. After being confined to just a receiver against the

San Francisco 49ers, he joined the primetime against the Chiefs. He played 39 snaps on offense and 25 snaps on defense in the last game, and his PFF grading placed him as a top-10 rookie on both sides. This makes his dual-threat ability somewhat concerning for opponents.

Although Hunter did great on both sides of the ball, it was his offensive play that stole the show. And this might be the reason why Prisco is so confident about Hunter’s touchdown prediction in the next week. The highlight of his offensive play was the  44-yard reception, which got the Jaguars into Kansas City territory. What made this catch more impressive is that Hunter did it while being defended by two Chiefs players.

Hunter finished the game with a career high 64 yards receiving overall and caught all three passes thrown to him. He had a 12-yard catch that got a first down on second-and-11 and an eight-yarder on third-and-13 that set the Jaguars up for 52 52-yard field goal.

Hunter can score 2 or more TDs in a game, as he has done in 5 games during his 2024 college football career. However, this time the stage is bigger and the challenges are tougher. But Hunter has shown his potential on the big stage, and that’s why even expert analysts are not only rallying behind him but expecting a bigger spectacle. But amidst the highlights of his offensive play, one shouldn’t forget his defensive ability.

Travis Hunter’s defensive play is much better than the stats

Travis Hunter might

not have had the coaches’ confidence in his defensive play as he had just 9 defensive snaps against the 49ers, but that changed in Tuesday night’s game against the Chiefs.  Just like his offensive brilliance, Hunter made a similar impact on the defense, although it might not show on the stats.

Hunter allowed one catch on 19 coverage snaps to go along with a pair of tackles. He also made a great play on third down to break up a ball to Travis Kelce. Even the defensive coordinator, Anthony Campanile, praised his defensive abilities. “I thought he competed really, really hard on both sides of the ball,” Campanile said. It’s because of his defensive abilities that Prisco mentioned the chances of Hunter getting a TD in week 6 through a pick six while giving his bold two TD prediction.

Hunter has raised the bar high after his last performance. And now with experts and analysts making some bold predictions, it will be up to Hunter to continue his excellence on both sides of the ball and prove Prisco right.
