When it rains, it pours. And it’s pouring pretty bad for the Jags, whose lingering hopes to make the playoffs were squashed by the Lions. Well, the Jaguars didn’t only receive a beat-down in Detroit. They were simply blown apart, which saw them lose by a margin of 46 points. While that loss could be a hard pill to digest for everyone in Jacksonville. They had to watch their receiver, Gabe Davis, head out with a knee injury late into the third quarter.

Although he was later ruled out from the game, the Jags wouldn’t like the assessment of his injury. As per Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Davis has suffered a torn meniscus. And is expected to have surgery with no return date just yet. But there’s a catch. During the procedure, the doctors will determine whether Davis has suffered a full repair or just a trim.

It would make it easier for everyone to predict a possible return date. So, if it’s a full meniscus repair, Davis will be out for the season. And that decision could be better for his long-term health. He wouldn’t have to worry about getting injured at the same place later on. However, the Jags also have a way to get him back quicker. Placing Davis on the injury reserves with a meniscus trim would mean he would play again. But that decision may not go down well with the Jaguars.

Heading into the bye week, their season is already looking unsalvageable. Losing 9 of their 11 games this season, the Jaguars will now miss the receiver they just signed in the summer. Taking him off the Bills and handing him a $39 million contract is already looking like a loss. Seeing his production of just 20 catches for 239 yards and two TDs, Gabe Davis hasn’t really proved himself in Jacksonville.

It is obviously going to happen. But at the same time. I have a job to do and that’s to get this team ready to face a good division.”

Although Pederson may be adamant about changing his team’s fortunes, the Jags have now lost four in a row twice this season. Their first slump came in the first four weeks. And now their second string of losses is moving into the bye week. Well, Pederson is somewhat happy to get the much-needed break they deserve. “Our break obviously comes at the right time. Our guys need some time away and we need to refresh and recharge the players and the coaches.”

As per Pederson, the bye week could help the Jags to rethink their strategies. But looking at their record, it may well be too late. With nine losses, only a miracle can help the Jaguars punch a playoff card this season.
