Christian McCaffrey won the Offensive Player of the Year Award, but that recognition didn’t work well before the Kansas City Chiefs’ defense. However, there is no doubt that he is instrumental in the success of the 49ers’ offense. The loss has CMC in his feelings, which is nothing unlikely after losing the Super Bowl despite his best effort.

The 49ers’ running back came to the podium after Super Bowl LVIII concluded, expressing his heartfelt sadness about the loss. McCaffrey has a lot of pent-up emotions to process, and it might take him some time to get back to normal. He scored one touchdown in the game, but the Niners fell short by just a few points.

McCaffrey could be seen with a sullen face in the post-game press conference. 95.7 The Game shared a snippet of McCaffrey’s conversation with them. The post was captioned, “It hurts. It hurts deep.” Christian McCaffrey on Super Bowl loss 😢”. The 49ers’ RB was asked how he was processing the “toughness” of this loss against the Kansas City Chiefs.

“Yeah it hurts, it hurts so deep. It is something that you dreamed of as a kid, worked so hard for all year, and come short. You just have to go through all the emotions as they come,” he said. The RB then added to the conversation by mentioning that it might take him some time to get back to normal once again and said, “It’s fresh, it still sucks.” 

However, winning the Offensive Player of the Year doesn’t seem so sweet for the running back, and he might be preparing to go even harder next year, especially after coming so close to winning a Lombardi Trophy.

Christian McCaffrey had a better game than Isaiah Pacheco but still lost

McCaffrey got 22 chances to rush the ball and had 80 rushing yards and a touchdown. His touchdown came in the second quarter from a 21-yard pass from Jauan Jennings, though that was not a rushing TD but a receiving one. After that, he slowed down on the touchdowns.

Isaiah Pacheco of the Chiefs had a less impressive performance than CMC. He rushed for 59 yards over 18 attempts but didn’t score a touchdown, either rushing or receiving. He was targeted six times to receive the ball, though.

McCaffrey had eight receptions and made one of them count. Sadly, he also fumbled the ball once, which might have changed the game.
