Recovering from injuries is tough. Listening to people’s criticism during that time is even more challenging. And the beloved Browns QB Deshaun Watson is going through a similar situation. Yet, being the dexterous QB he is, Watson is fighting off both his injury and the haters with the valiant flair he possesses on the field. Watson is battling a shoulder injury; a strain of the subscapularis within the rotator cuff, to be more specific.

The QB is on a day-to-day practice basis as of now. Moreover, on Monday, Browns’ head coach Kevin Stefanski expressed his concern about the lingering effects of his injury. Stefanski replied, “I’m always going to be protective of our players, especially at the quarterback position.” However, looking at the QB’s state, his presence in the Seahawks clash remains highly questionable.

What does Deshaun Watson have to say about his injury?

When the QB was asked about his presence in the Seahawks clash, where the 4-2 Browns have an opportunity to beat Seattle on their home ground, the QB replied: “Why wouldn’t I want to play? I just worked my a** off for two years to get back and play.” He was addressing a press conference on Thursday. Watson’s reply to his critics, who are attacking him for not playing despite being medically clear, was meant to silence them.

The QB, elaborating further, said, “All that stuff is just trying to cause controversy and commotion. I’m not happy with the injury. I’m in a great space mentally. I’m in a great space spiritually.” Well, Watson can get his burning replies across the table whenever someone points a finger at him. That happened with Brady Quincy.

Another one who was at the receiving end of aimed-burning replies was former Browns QB Brady Quinn. On his appearance on Fox Sports Radio show, the ex-QB passed a comment on Watson that infuriated many. The former QB indirectly hinted at his $230 million hefty contract, implying that the QB was ‘a child with a $230 million trust fund and no incentive to work.’

Nevertheless, the QB’s private quarterback coach, Quincy Avery, wasn’t having any of it. Avery opined that Quinn ‘does not know what he was talking about‘ and was gossiping like a ‘high-school kid.’ With this, Deshaun Watson once again sends a clear message to his haters.
