When a team selects you as their first receiver in the NFL Draft, you have to prove your worth. That’s exactly what Hollywood Brown did in 2019 when the Baltimore Ravens picked him in the first round. And you know what happened next? He started showing that he got what it takes to be in the big league. Don’t you remember his debut against the Dolphins? Oh boy, it was spectacular. In the very first quarter, he ran for a 47-yard TD. Not just that, his second catch was an 83-yard TD. I know, right? He’s always been like a beast on the gridiron.

Mr. Hollywood was not a one-time wonder. He had his moments over the years. Back in ‘21, he dominated the Colts with 125 yards and 2 TDs. He even spent his time with the Cardinals. When he finished the ‘23 season, Brown was the second-leading receiver with 51 catches for 574 yards and 4 TDs. Things went downhill when he signed a one-year contract with the Chiefs back in 2024. Even before he began his journey with the Chiefs, an injury doomed him and kept him sidelined for a good while.

Hollywood Brown Injury History

Back in August, Hollywood Brown’s time with the Chiefs was cursed from the start. On his very first snap in the preseason, he suffered a sternoclavicular posterior dislocation—yeah, a nasty shoulder injury. At first, they thought he’d miss just a few weeks, but things got worse, and suddenly, he was ruled out indefinitely. Brown had to get surgery, and just like that, his season was in doubt before it even began. When he made his return in December, he said, “I was rehabbing, I was responding really well. I realized I had a chance to come back, and I saw how excited it got the guys and my coaches. I think that pushed me even harder to come back as quickly as possible.

When you’re a player in a physically intense sport, injuries are part of the package. It’d be a mistake to think this shoulder injury was his first big hit. Over the years, he’s been through a lot of it. Back with the Ravens in ‘19, he had to miss 2 games because of a sprained ankle. In 2020, a Lisfranc injury forced him to go through surgery. Not just that, a foot fracture landed him on IR for five straight weeks. Injury has always been a part of his journey. But he kept bouncing back, the way he’s back for the Super Bowl.
