Jaxson Dart’s decision to introduce President Donald Trump at a political rally continues to generate headlines. And while much of the past week has centered around the public scrutiny Dart has faced, including criticism from teammate Abdul Carter, the New York Giants quarterback has now received a response from Trump himself, who not only defended Dart but also extended an invitation to the White House.

“Thank you Jaxson! It was great being with you. I know you’re taking some heat from the Radical Left Lunatics who are jealous of you, me, and everyone who surrounds us but, I also know that your jersey also went to Number One, and you’re making Millions of Dollars so, YOU ARE A WINNER — THEY ARE ALL LOOSERS. I’ll see you in the White House!”

Trump’s response to Dart came days after the Giants quarterback accepted an invitation to introduce the President at a political rally, a move the organization was reportedly unaware of beforehand. While taking the stage, Dart said:
“What an honor, what a privilege it is to be here. And without further ado, I’m grateful, I’m honored, and I’m pleased to introduce the 45th and 47th president of the United States of America, President Donald J. Trump.”
Since then, the quarterback has faced intense criticism, with many questioning his decision to take a political stance, especially as a 23-year-old quarterback entering a season in which he is expected to help lead a legacy franchise that finished 4-13 in 2025. However, it was the locker-room tension that ultimately drew the most attention.
Teammate Abdul Carter publicly questioned Dart’s decision in a social media post that has since been deleted. However, after Carter later stated that he and Dart had resolved the issue, NFL insider Mike Garafolo reported that Dart addressed his teammates during the Giants’ OTAs.
In addition, Giants veterans, including Jameis Winston, Brian Burns, and Kayvon Thibodeaux, also discussed the situation, and the team has since moved forward.
But neither that meeting nor Trump’s response appears to have quieted the scrutiny surrounding the quarterback. In fact, opinions have remained divided ever since Dart appeared at the rally. Some believe he simply accepted a rare opportunity to introduce the President, while others argue that a young NFL player who has yet to establish himself should avoid taking a public political stance.
Since then, Dart has also issued a statement addressing the situation.
“I also understand in this world, politics can be a sensitive matter, a sensitive topic. I also understand that I am the quarterback of the New York Giants, and that involves a lot of responsibility,” Dart said. “It’s under a limelight, under a microscope, and there’s a lot that comes with that, and it’s been something that I’ve embraced.
“…Most importantly, I can honestly say that I love every single one of my brothers, my teammates on this team regardless of politics, regardless of religious beliefs, regardless of anything that may be different between us. Like, I love them and they know exactly what kind of person that I am, who comes into the facility every day.”
For now, it is too early to determine whether the backlash surrounding Dart will impact his 2026 season. But one thing seems clear: the quarterback has made his position known. At the same time, Abdul Carter has also released a statement following his criticism of Jaxson Dart.
Abdul Carter justified his criticism of Jaxson Dart
While it’s evident that Abdul Carter and Jaxson Dart have resolved the situation amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the Giants quarterback, that doesn’t necessarily mean the second-year linebacker agrees with Dart’s decision. Following the incident, Carter addressed his criticism of Dart while also acknowledging his responsibility to speak up for what he believes in.
“If he chooses to align himself with a man like President Trump, it’s my responsibility based on what I believe and what I stand on to not only show my teammates that I’m against that but to show the world,” said Carter. “And that doesn’t mean that we have to spread hate. It doesn’t mean that me and Jaxson hate each other or we have beef. I sit next to Jaxson every day. Every team meeting we’re close, we talk, you know, we just — as long as we make sure we got the same goal as a team and our goals align, which they do, I feel like that’s all that matters.”

The relationship between Carter and Dart dates back to before they even entered the Giants’ locker room. The two faced each other in the Peach Bowl in 2023. And after New York selected both players in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Carter made it clear that he was “a big fan of Jaxson.”
So, while the past few days have undoubtedly been challenging for both players, Dart and Carter are likely focused on turning the page and preparing for the 2026 season rather than dwelling on the criticism that continues to surround the situation.
