By the end of the third quarter, Brian Daboll was absolutely sure he’d go home happy. Instead, what ensued was perhaps one of the greatest comebacks the league has seen to date. Known for their strong defense this season, the Denver Broncos stunned the New York Giants with a 33-point fourth quarter and took the game home (33-32) in the last minute. And Daboll, already infamous for his hot-headed antics, managed to garner headlines for all the wrong reasons yet again.

Signs of distress had already started surfacing on the sidelines as the Broncos pulled off their last-second field goal to seal the win. Seeing his team blow off an 18-point lead in the final six minutes, Daboll first animatedly ripped off his hat and his headset, tossing them to the ground in a fit of rage. He then went on to yell in the direction of defensive coordinator Shane Bowen, too.
Brian Daboll was livid on the sideline on that final series. Directing all of his frustration at defensive coordinator Shane Bowen. A horrific collapse by the #Giants.
They led 19-0, 26-8. They were attempting a PAT to go up three with 40 seconds left.

The biggest storyline before heading to this game was how the Giants’ rookie offense would handle an elite defense. But the Broncos’ QB Bo Nix made sure the offense won the game this time. At least for a short while.
The game started fast for New York. In the first half, they stopped Denver from scoring while recording 2 TDs and taking a 13-0 lead. The third quarter belonged to the Giants’ running game. RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. ran 31 yards for a touchdown, and New York was up 19–0. They looked like they were going to win easily. But the fourth quarter changed everything.

The Broncos’ wide receiver Troy Franklin scored on a short 2-yard pass, making it 19–8. Dart responded with a 41-yard touchdown to Theo Johnson, pushing the lead to 26–8. Then the Broncos went on a huge run. Bo Nix scored on a 7-yard run, then threw a 2-yard touchdown to RB RJ Harvey, and finally ran 18 yards for another touchdown. It did not take long for Denver to go past New York at 30-26.

The Giants scored once more when Dart ran 1 yard for a touchdown, making it 32–30 with just 37 seconds left. But the Broncos had other plans. They drove down the field 56 yards in four plays, and kicker Wil Lutz kicked a 39-yard field goal as time ran out.
The Giants lost 33–32 in a photo finish. Their sack leader, linebacker Brian Burns, accepted the blame.

Brian Daboll’s LB makes a huge admission
While talking to reporters inside the locker room, Burns first took the blame on himself. “I had some faults and some misses,” he said. “Just didn’t execute well enough. We got put in a position where we could have won and we could have took the game, but we gave it back to them.”
Brian Burns has been the Giants’ standout pass rusher this season. In his first six games, he has recorded 7 sacks, along with 9 tackles for loss, 30 tackles (19 solo), and 1 forced fumble. In the Week 7 game against the Broncos, Burns was a key factor on defense, recording 2 sacks, 3 tackles for loss, and 2 quarterback hits. This game was one of his best performances of the season, showing his ability to disrupt an opponent’s offense. However, the loss forced him to ask his teammates to toughen up.
“Dabe’s (Brian Daboll) gonna take the blame and Dabe’s gone, his fault and this and that,” the player noted. “At the end of the day, we’re playing and we got to make that play.”
Looks like the team has no time to waste before they meet the San Francisco 49ers for their Week 9 Sunday clash.
