Kicking off our list at No. 20 is a guy not many people have in their top 20 for this week: Travis Hunter. All Liam Coen has been talking about in recent weeks is finding a way to get Hunter more involved. Couple that with Brian Thomas’s injury (he should still play this week, but could be somewhat limited) and his lack of production this year, and I think we’re ready to see Hunter have another big game.

I don’t just love Hunter for this week, though. I think he’s going to take over as the WR1 in Jacksonville. He’s slowly transitioning to only playing offense, and Trevor Lawrence seems to trust him more than Thomas. I think he could have a big week and may even finish higher than WR20.

19. Chris Olave, New Orleans Saints

Matchup: Los Angeles Rams

I would have Chris Olave higher, because even though he hasn’t had many big games, he’s been very consistent and is quietly WR9 in the year, but I’m a bit worried about his quarterback situation. The New Orleans Saints just announced that Tyler Shough will be starting this week, and while I think he can be a decent quarterback, it’s his first start, and they’re playing a tough defense. Olave should still get his 11-15 points, but I don’t think his ceiling is very high in Week 9.

18. Tet McMillan, Carolina Panthers

Matchup: Green Bay Packers

Another guy who’s been super consistent this year is Tet McMillan. The Carolina Panthers’ WR1 is the WR18 on the year, and has scored 11+ points in six of his first eight NFL games. No matter if it’s Bryce Young or Andy Dalton under center, McMillan should see around 8-10 targets and possibly even score a touchdown. I know Green Bay’s defense is solid, but McMillan will still get some good production.

17. Nico Collins, Houston Texans

Matchup: Denver Broncos

Nico Collins missed last week with a concussion, but the Houston Texans seemed to iron out some of their kinks in the passing game. C.J. Stroud looked good, and with Collins back, they should only be able to build on last week’s performance. I’m still a bit worried about the consistency of the offense and the quality of opponent they’re playing, which is why he’s down in 17th, but he could still have a big day.

16. Stefon Diggs, New England Patriots

Matchup: Atlanta Falcons

Stefon Diggs has emerged as Drake Maye’s favorite target in New England. He didn’t have the best start to the year, but he has scored 12+ in four of his last five games, even with Kayshon Boutte’s emergence. I like his matchup this week, so as long as Maye continues to target him 5-8 times a game, he’s going to be one of the top fantasy receivers.

15. Drake London, Atlanta Falcons

Matchup: New England Patriots

Drake London is a bit banged up right now, but he’s seen as day-to-day, so it seems like he’ll be available on Sunday. If he plays, he’ll be a top 15 receiver in fantasy, no doubt. In his last three games with Michael Penix (who is also expected to return this week), he’s averaged 21.6 points per game. If he and Penix are cleared, which it seems like they will be, he’s a must-start.

14. George Pickens, Dallas Cowboys

Matchup: Arizona Cardinals

I won’t lie to you, I was not a George Pickens believer before the year started. I know a lot of his early production was due to CeeDee Lamb’s injury, but since Lamb’s return, Pickens has still put up 12 and 14 points. He’s a high-end WR2 option for the rest of the season, even with Lamb healthy.

13. Zay Flowers, Baltimore Ravens

Matchup: Miami Dolphins

Zay Flowers has quietly had a very good season, even with Lamar Jackson missing so much time. He’s WR25 on the year, and with Jackson (hopefully) coming back this week, he should only see his production increase. On top of that, I love his matchup against the Miami Dolphins, who have one of the worst defenses in the league.

12. DK Metcalf, Pittsburgh Steelers

Matchup: Indianapolis Colts

DK Metcalf has proven to be one of the most important additions to any team this offseason. He is easily the Pittsburgh Steelers’ WR1 and has yet to score under 10 fantasy points in any game this year. As long as he’s healthy, he’s going to be a top 15 fantasy option, and this week, the Steelers are going to have to throw it a lot to try and keep up with the Indianapolis Colts.

11. Jaylen Waddle, Miami Dolphins

Matchup: Baltimore Ravens

Ever since Tyreek Hill went down, Jaylen Waddle has been great. He had one stinker, but has scored 16, 21, and 23 in three of his last four games. He’s catching five passes a game, going for 90+ yards, and scoring touchdowns pretty consistently. I know Miami’s offense is hard to trust, but Waddle has a very favorable matchup against the Baltimore Ravens this week, so he’s a top 15 receiver in my eyes.

10. Davante Adams, WR, Los Angeles Rams

Matchup: New Orleans Saints

Davante Adams has been the perfect complement to Puka Nacua this season. Nacua has had a great year, so he’s overshadowing just how well Adams has been playing. He’s quietly the WR12 on the year, and with a very favorable matchup against the Saints coming up, I expect him to be a top 10 wide receiver this week, even with Nacua coming back from injury.

9. Rome Odunze, Chicago Bears

Matchup: Cincinnati Bengals

I’ve always been a big Rome Odunze guy, and I was disappointed by his production last year, but I still picked him in most leagues this year, and it’s paying off big time. He’s the clear-cut WR1 in Chicago now, and outside of back-to-back poor performances, he’s been very good. This week, he gets a very favorable matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, so he should take advantage and have a big week.

8. Ladd McConkey, Los Angeles Chargers

Matchup: Tennessee Titans

After an extremely slow start to the season, Ladd McConkey has finally started to come around and perform like the top 10 receiver everyone drafted him as. He’s coming off four straight 14+ point games, and this week he gets a very poor Tennessee Titans defense. I expect him and Justin Herbert to connect a lot on Sunday.

7. Rashee Rice, Kansas City Chiefs

Matchup: Buffalo Bills

My most drafted player of the year comes in at No. 7. I’ve always been a big Rashee Rice guy, and it hasn’t always paid off because of injuries and suspensions, but I’m finally reaping the benefits. He’s had back-to-back 23+ point games, and it is clearly Patrick Mahomes’ favorite target. This weekend’s game against the Buffalo Bills should be a high-scoring one, so expect to see A LOT of Rice this weekend.

6. Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings

Matchup: Detroit Lions

If Justin Jefferson just had an elite quarterback, he’d be No. 1 on this list pretty much every week. Unfortunately, he does not, so he slips outside the top five. I do love his matchup against a very injured Lions secondary, so he still lands at No. 6.

5. CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys

Matchup: Arizona Cardinals

Since returning to the field, CeeDee Lamb has been nothing short of great. He’s averaging 18 points per game and has been targeted 18 times in two games. He’s still Dak Prescott’s favorite target, and with the defense they have, they’re going to be playing catch-up more often than not. Lamb is always going to be a top 10 fantasy receiver, but this week, he comes in at No. 5 because I like some other top receivers’ matchups a bit more.

4. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions

Matchup: Minnesota Vikings

These top five were pretty hard to rank because I think they’ll all be very, very good options this week, but here’s my attempt. I put Amon-Ra St. Brown in fourth because out of the top four, I like his matchup the least. I know the Minnesota Vikings defense hasn’t been as good as in years past, but they’re seventh in fantasy points allowed to receivers. St. Brown still has 20+ point upside, but I think there are three others I’d have above him.

3. Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seattle Seahawks

Matchup: Washington Commanders

Starting our podium positions is Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The Seattle Seahawks’ WR1 got off to an extremely hot start and has not cooled down one bit. He’s had 100+ yards in five of his first seven games and has 10+ targets in four of those. He gets a pretty good matchup against Washington this week, so there’s no reason to believe he won’t have another 100+ yard performance.

2. Puka Nacua, Los Angeles Rams

Matchup: New Orleans Saints

It was very hard for me not to put Puka Nacua at No. 1, but I had to hold off. Matthew Stafford is going to target him heavily in his first game back from injury, and he has a good matchup against New Orleans, so there’s no reason to think he can’t have 100+ yards and a touchdown. However, the top guy on our list just has to be No. 1 until his production falls off.

1. Ja’Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals

article-image

Imago

Matchup: Chicago Bears

Ja’Marr Chase has seen an absurd amount of targets since Joe Flacco joined the team three weeks ago. In those three games, Chase has been targeted 54 (!) times. If you count just his last two, he’s seen 42 targets, or 21 per game. I know it’s nearly impossible to sustain that volume, but I’m going to keep putting Chase at No. 1 until someone stops him. For now, he’s the most valuable player in fantasy football (in PPR leagues) outside of Jonathan Taylor.
