“I wanted to make it known that I am the No. 1 edge defender. That was the statement I was intending to make and I think I made it.” The Browns’ Myles Garrett roared after an outstanding performance vs the Steelers, which turned out into the Browns’ win. His statement was directly pointed toward the Steelers’ linebacker, TJ Watt.

You might get confused about the ongoing issue between the star players. Before revealing their conflict, which started in February this year, former NFL player Chris Canty clearly stated whom he supports.

The former defensive lineman has added fuel to TJ Watt’s frustration. The 42-year-old expert was asked whom he would choose between Myles, Watt, and Micah Parsons for the next five years. After a pause, Canty admitted, “I will go with Myles.” After asking why he chose the Browns’ rusher, he said, “I think Myles is a more complete player. And we have seen Myles impact the Cleveland Browns’ special team as well as their defense.”

Chris continued to praise Myles, “I mean, this guy block punts, this guy block kicks. I mean, he is just a freak of nature. I think he is a more complete defensive force than Micah or TJ Watt.” But how someone’s performance or comment can add misery to Watt?

Last season, Steelers player T.J. Watt expressed his dissatisfaction when Myles Garrett was awarded the Defensive Player of the Year (DPOY). When reporters inquired about his absence from the ceremony, Watt replied, “Nothing I’m not used to.” His unhappy demeanor and candid remarks about the award recipient affected Garrett negatively.

So what is the fuss between TJ Watt and Myles Garrett all about? And why did the Browns’ star pass rusher state, “Edge defender one, edge one, to Defensive Player of the Year, I’m the guy that runs through me.”

Tussle between TJ Watt – Myles Garrett and the drama of apology

“No, he didn’t say anything to me. He’s got to apologize to me when I see him.” This is what the Browns’ #95 said about Watt when interviewed about their skirmish. The star passer wanted an apology from the Steelers’ linebacker. Watt addressed the verbal altercation by stating, “I have respect for everybody in the league. Obviously, he’s a guy who has been a top pass rusher in the league for a long time.”

In response, T.J. Watt appears to be lowering his guard against the rusher. Watt’s DPOY snub cost him the backlash from Cleveland’s fans too.

In the most recent matchup against TJ Watt’s Pittsburgh Steelers (8-3), Garrett showcased his best performance and validated the recognition he received in February this year. However, the Browns are struggling in the season. It ranks 4th in the AFC North with a win-loss record of 3-8, whereas the Steelers stand still on the top in the division.

Though the franchise performed the opposite of Garrett’s play, the dispute between them does not seem to be resolved after the rusher’s recent comment. Only time will tell where this saga will lead to!
