Anyone who plays for Buffalo has love for the team and maybe even more love for the city and its people. Just look at how much love Keon Coleman got from the people of Buffalo. They even replaced Stefon Diggs with Coleman in a mural in Allen’s Buffalo. With that same spirit, the people of Buffalo and retired NFL QB Ryan Fitzpatrick showed love for another Bills player.

In the game against the Seattle Seahawks, the rookie Joe Andreessen made the second tackle of his NFL career. But it came with some backlash from the league. He was fined $4.42k by the league for unnecessary roughness. Ryan Fitzpatrick, who played 4 seasons for the Buffalo team has taken the initiative of covering those fines for “Buffalo Joe.”

It all started when ESPN’s reporter for Buffalo, Alaina Getzenberg, took to X and posted on X, “Bills LB Joe Andreessen was fined $4,421.29 for unnecessary roughness (use of the helmet) during the win vs. the Seahawks last week making a tackle on a kickoff return in the third quarter. He was not flagged on the field.”

Fitzpatrick saw this. And he couldn’t resist asking people for Joe’s details so that he could put the fine on his tab. In a reply to Alaina Getzenberg, the former NFL quarterback said, “DM me Joe’s info and I’ll pay the fine for him. Can’t be taking money away from Mr. Buffalo.” So why is this so shocking to Fitzpatrick?

Apparently, the officials didn’t penalize Buffalo Joe in the game for “roughing up” the Seahawks’ Laviska Shenault Jr. at the Seattle 25. The play happened late in the third quarter. The state of NFL officiating is questionable. Remember Byron Young, who roughed up Vikings QB Sam Darnold a few days back? The NFL didn’t penalize him in the game, but they fined him about $7k.

However, for what it’s worth, NFL fans are showing love to Fitzpatrick for his wholesome gesture to help Mr. Buffalo out.

What do the fans think of Fitzpatrick’s selfless act of protecting Josh Allen’s LB?

Veteran long snapper for the Buffalo Bills, Reid Ferguson, unapologetically called out the NFL for “stealing money” in his reply to the ESPN reporter. At the same time, Fitzpatrick’s kind gesture has made him a hero in the eyes of the people of Buffalo.

A fan straight up compared to a superhero and brought up the age-old story of “Not all heroes wear capes. Although I have a feeling you [Ryan Fitzpatrick] might have a cape somewhere.” Another fan was convinced the city of Buffalo would honor Ryan Fitzpatrick for his commendable actions when they wrote, “Fitz, someday you’ll have a statue in Buffalo. It might not be specifically sanctioned by the Bills but it will be there because of things like this. You’re the best.”

Another fan pointed out how Fitzpatrick is a Buffalo man through and through despite him not hailing from the city. “You are an amazing man. Buffalo through and through even though you are [not] from there. Thank you so much to all of us! You are the best! 💙❤️.”

The former Bills QB might just get a statue in Buffalo someday and that fans’ wishes might come true someday. Who knows? For now, all eyes are on the Buffalo Linebacker to play his fifth game in the league and record some more tackles and maybe even a sack.
