Essentials Inside The Story

  • Derrick Henry’s comments help lead to trade rumors around A.J. Brown.
  • A deal remains unlikely due to the Eagles’ heavy cap hit.
  • Brown has brushed off the rumors and remains focused on Philly.

Derrick Henry’s campaign to bring A.J. Brown to Baltimore just went public, with the running back making his pitch directly to the star receiver during a live stream. Just days after applauding Brown’s high level of play in a recent release of the Up & Adams Show, the 32-year-old dropped another hint, this time connecting his name directly to the Ravens.

The stream featured a moment where the two were actively responding to fan comments. Henry, looking at the live chat, read a message out loud, saying, “AJ to the Ravens.” And even the thought of it found the running back’s approval.

“Yeah, tell him. I mean, I’d love to see bro,” Henry added, dropping his own take on the matter.

Trade speculation around A.J. Brown has been one of the most persistent storylines of the 2026 NFL offseason. After signing a lucrative three-year, $96 million contract extension in 2024, the 28-year-old has been the subject of rumors as a potential trade candidate despite his status as one of the league’s premier receivers.

His former Titans teammate, Derrick Henry, is leading the charge for a potential move. During a recent appearance at the Up & Adams show, he said he would “love to have” Brown on the roster, speaking on Lamar Jackson’s behalf as well.

However, the biggest obstacle for any team pursuing A.J. Brown is the significant dead-cap burden the Eagles would incur in a trade. Any deal completed before June 1 would saddle Philadelphia with a projected $43.5 million dead-cap hit.

This can effectively remove the incentive to move Brown early in the offseason. The situation becomes more manageable after the draft, when that number drops to approximately $16.5 million. However, the financial considerations became less of a factor after Brown clarified his stance.

A. J. Brown finally addresses trade rumors with a bold response and 2026 plans

The 2025 season saw moments where Brown appeared unhappy with the team’s overall performance, sparking talks that he might want out of Philadelphia. His silence after the Eagles’ playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers only added fuel to the fire.

However, recent comments from Brown suggest a very different outlook. During a podcast appearance, the wide receiver expressed his loyalty to the Eagles, making it clear that there’s no way he wants out.

“When I got to Philly, Philly welcomed me with open arms,” he said on Micah Parsons’ podcast, The Edge. “That’s home, man. I love them. I love the support, the love, the accountability, I love everything else that they do. Philly is Philly. You have to be there to understand.”

Brown made it clear that his focus is on improvement, not trade talk. Rather than pushing for a move, the Eagles star said the offense needs to “rediscover” itself by reviewing game film to correct mistakes and plan a daily work strategy.

That message fits with the changes taking place in Philadelphia this offseason. The Eagles have named Sean Mannion as offensive coordinator and added Josh Grizzard as pass game coordinator under Nick Sirianni. With a refreshed coaching staff and motivated Brown, the team now appears focused on moving forward together in 2026.
