The Dallas Cowboys suffered a huge blow in their loss to the Detroit Lions, 44-30, with the night revolving around star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. Already with the game slipping out of Dallas’ hands, a scary moment shifted the mood. Lamb suddenly became the focus, but not for his performance, rather for his well-being.

With the Cowboys trailing 27-9 in the third quarter, Lamb went up for a fade from Dak Prescott and came crashing down hard. His head slammed into the turf.

”CeeDee Lamb took a tough fall in the end zone and now is going to be looked at in the #Cowboys medical tent,” as per reporter Tommy Yarrish’s post on X.

Concern spread quickly as teammates waved toward the sideline, signaling for help. Lamb was immediately taken to the medical tent for evaluation, with NFL insider Adam Schefter later confirming on X that the receiver was ruled out for the remainder of the game with a concussion.

On the Prime Video broadcast, Kaylee Hartung also officially confirmed his exit from the remainder of the game. Before exiting the matchup, Lamb had been having an excellent evening, with six catches for 121 yards, again serving as the driving force for Dallas’ passing attack.

His absence left the Cowboys with George Pickens, Ryan Flournoy, KaVontae Turpin, and Jonathan Mingo to step up more for the remainder of the night. Nevertheless, after the hit, Javonte Williams scored Dallas’ first touchdown of the game.

However, this isn’t Lamb’s first setback of the season. He previously missed three games due to a high ankle sprain and has also been through several other injuries. Back in 2021, he suffered a concussion, forcing him to miss one game, which raised concerns about his long-term durability.

Even through all the injuries, he has remained one of the NFL’s most dynamic playmakers, entering the game with 57 receptions for 865 yards and three touchdowns so far this season. His 121-yard performance on Thursday tied him with Tony Hill for the second-most 100-yard receiving games in Cowboys history, trailing only Hall of Famer Michael Irvin.

It’s not like the Cowboys have been solely dependent on Lamb. Although his absence does have very real effects, Dallas was 1-1-1 without him earlier in the season. George Pickens has also been an excellent addition. Prescott, too, has played at a very high level, and Jake Ferguson remains a reliable outlet.

But the loss of Lamb will surely impact the Cowboys’ offense. His injury disrupted the flow of that game, and now many are worried about his availability for the rest of the season.

Cowboys falter against Lions after Lamb’s exit

Dak Prescott tried to get something going, but an incomplete pass to Ryan Flournoy on third-and-5 ended the possession. Instead of kicking the field goal, Dallas remained aggressive and went for it on fourth down to keep the team within striking distance.

Prescott threw to George Pickens for a first down, but Pickens lost control of the ball. The fumble bounded into the end zone, where the Cowboys recovered it, but NFL rules mandated a change of possession, placing the ball at Detroit’s 2-yard line.

Perhaps the biggest highlight of the night was from kicker Brandon Aubrey, who connected on an incredible 63-yard field goal. In that moment, the kick pulled the score closer and kept the Cowboys within striking distance, putting pressure on the Lions.

The Cowboys’ final offensive push ended not with points but with a turnover, resulting in their defeat.
