Jerry Jones is making important moves to make his roster strong. While he is doing this, a Cowboys legend has hit the GM with a new trade option. The trade prospect is a three-time all-pro who has made his name in the NFL. And he can flip the cursed side of the Cowboys. It’s been over three decades since the Cowboys haven’t won a Super Bowl. Well, picking up talent across the NFL can end this drought.

Former Cowboys star Dez Bryant made a subtle demand to Jerry Jones. He reposted NFL reporter Dov Kleiman‘s post, which says, “The Dolphins and CB Jalen Ramsey are mutually set to explore trade options and are unlikely to stay with the team, per Ian Rapoport.” And wrote, “Now @jalenramsey, can we get a ⭐ ️ on your helmet?” This sparked rumors and expectations to land Jalen Ramsey. But hold your horses, there’s a catch.

Jalen Ramsey signed a contract extension with the Dolphins last year. With agent David Mulugheta, he secured a three-year, $72,300,000 deal, including $24,235,000 guaranteed. If Jerry Jones wants to trade for Ramsey, he would need to take on a base salary of $1,255,000, a $4,000,000 roster bonus, and a $100,000 workout bonus. However, this could create a financial headache for the Dolphins. Why? Because Ramsey carries a cap hit of $16,661,000, and his dead cap number exceeds $49 million—specifically, $49,448,000.

Reportedly, after keeping Ramsey on their roster for two seasons, the Dolphins are now willing to absorb that financial burden to acquire a draft prospect or free agent in return. Well, he could be an excellent fit for the Cowboys. Since entering the NFL in 2016, the three-time Pro Bowler has recorded 534 total tackles. Although he hasn’t been known for sacks—only three in his career—he made 432 solo tackles, showcasing his consistency and impact on the field.

In the 2024 season, Ramsey made 60 total tackles; he made 39 solo tackles and 21 assisted tackles. So, his stats are significantly good. Indeed, he can be a great fit to play along with Micah Parsons and the team. Let’s see if Jerry Jones can take time to analyze this cornerback and put a star on his helmet. But while diving into the roster moves, star defender Tyron Smith announced his retirement.

No one’s gonna replace Jerry Jones’s star defender Tyron Smith

After Zack Martin, Tyron Smith has also announced that he’ll play his ceremonial final season with the team that drafted him 13 years ago. The Cowboys are about to lose another franchise legend. While he didn’t suit up for Jerry Jones in the 2024 season, Smith spent 12 seasons on the Cowboys’ roster. From Tony Romo to Aaron Rodgers, he protected every quarterback he played with—consistently and effectively.

Smith will sign a ceremonial deal with the Cowboys for his last days in the big leagues. Jerry Jones is a gentleman to sign their veteran for one day and let him retire gracefully. And why not? The 34-year-old was the Cowboys’ 10th overall pick of the 2011 NFL drafts.

According to ESPN, the Pro Football Hall of Fame will induct Tyron Smith and Zack Martin. If that happens, it would be another proud moment for Jerry Jones and the Cowboys after a long history of producing great players. Well, Smith has not yet announced what his future plans are. However, one thing is clear: Tyron is leaving, and no one can replace the Cowboys star.
