The Dallas Cowboys didn’t just lose a game against the Detroit Lions in Week 14; they may have lost the engine of their offense. First, they lost 44-30, ending their three-game winning streak. But the second and bigger issue was a concussion to their ace receiver, CeeDee Lamb.

Fort Worth Star-Telegram‘s Nick Harris met Lamb coming out of the locker room and asked the receiver if he was good. Lamb nodded his head in approval, signaling positivity for the fans. The best thing for everyone in the building is that the receiver has a ten-day recovery period before their Week 15 game against the Minnesota Vikings on December 14.

CeeDee Lamb suffered the concussion on the 1st & 10 down at the 12:47 mark in the third quarter. Nickelback Amik Robertson was on the receiver’s tail, who had his eyes on the ball, but near the sidelines, the Lions’ player pushed him to the ground. Lamb immediately lost control and focus, raising his hand, but couldn’t get up from the ground. The fans in the stands watched in horror as Lamb was clearly shaken.

At first, he went to the medical tent for further evaluation, but later, they designated him out of the game. It became one of the big reasons they lost the game. Before going out, CeeDee Lamb had six receptions for 121 yards but failed to score.

In the Thanksgiving battle against the Kansas City Chiefs, he recorded seven receptions for 112 yards and one score. He also became the 15th player in NFL history to reach 7000+ receiving yards and the fastest in Cowboys history to achieve the milestone in his first six seasons.

However, America’s Team is worried as he has also missed games due to an ankle sprain. They are struggling with a banged-up roster.

CeeDee Lamb’s concussion is a hard reality check

The Cowboys’ receiver corps is not in 100% peak health condition. Lamb’s concussion on Thursday, December 4, reminded them of the importance of injury management. The final injury report for the Week 14 clash against the Lions listed receiver George Pickens as unspecified with a calf/knee injury.

Another receiver, Kavontae Turpin, also dealt with an injured shoulder and was listed as unspecified. It showed up in the game as both WRs (combined) had only seven receptions for 63 receiving yards without any touchdowns. That’s the hard lesson. When CeeDee Lamb suffered a high ankle sprain, grade 3, in the Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears, he missed three games. But Pickens steadied the ship with two 100+ yard games and four touchdowns in those three games.

Lamb returned in Week 7 against the Washington Commanders and has played three games with 100+ receiving yards. But their ship is now rocked once again. The NFL is very strict about concussion injuries, and every player needs to clear the concussion protocol to return. With the season on the line, as the Philadelphia Eagles are ahead by two wins and other wild-card teams also ahead with two or more wins, America’s Team now needs to win all four games.

Last year, Prescott’s injury spoiled their season. This year, will Lamb’s injury play the spoilsport? He never wants to, but they need to put an all-in effort to qualify for the playoffs.
