The Kansas City Chiefs are facing a tough reality check this year. Patrick Mahomes & Co. have dropped to 6-7 after the Week 14 loss against the Houston Texans. NFL legend Terry Bradshaw revealed his stance on their remaining season, which will break the fans’ hearts even more.

“They had no continuity, no rhythm, no rhyme to their offence. And so they’re going to be written off. And this year, I don’t think they’ll make the playoffs,” he said on the December 10 episode of the Morning Mayhem podcast.

The season has been upsetting for Chiefs Kingdom. Under Patrick Mahomes (overall since 2015), this is the first season under the quarterback when they are out of the race for the AFC West title. Even the 6-7 record (less than 0.500) hasn’t happened since December 2012. The biggest issue is that they have only a 16% chance of qualifying for the playoffs now.

Bradshaw revealed how the critics had negative reviews of him and the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1976 and 1977 after they had won two consecutive Super Bowls. Last year, Patrick Mahomes & co. were also treated similarly, with fans accusing the league of favoring them. But the Eagles humiliated the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX by winning 40-22.

This year, they might not qualify for the playoffs. However, Terry Bradshaw has predicted the struggles to continue in 2026 as well. It could become true if they don’t control the injuries and the close games.

“The Chiefs have not been healthy all year long. And it’s not like they’re losing 35 to 6, you know. I mean, they’re losing close games,” Bradshaw added. “But once they get their people healthy, you cannot overlook them.”

These two things have played the spoilsport. Against the Texans, the Chiefs were playing without their usual set of offensive linemen. Right guard Trey Smith was already out with an ankle injury. During the game, left tackle Wanya Morris also injured his ankle on the first play of the game after he landed his foot awkwardly. Right tackle Jawaan Taylor also missed the game with a triceps/knee injury. That seems understandable, but there have been issues with performance as well.

The second part is the crucial moments they have missed. Tight end Travis Kelce made two crucial mistakes against the Texans that ensured their loss. He first failed to complete a catch before fumbling and turning over the ball to the linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair for an interception.

These things matter. Out of seven losses, Patrick Mahomes & co. have lost four by three points. Two losses came with a six/seven-point difference. In fact, the 20-10 loss against the Texans is their biggest loss in 2025. So, the pain points are clear.

Terry Bradshaw and others could clearly see the difference that won the Super Bowl-winning lineup and this year’s lineup. However, if they fail to qualify for the playoffs, it would be a major blow to the Chiefs Kingdom. They aren’t used to seeing their team go down like this.
