A tragedy befell the Kansas City Chiefs‘ practice today. According to Sam McDowell, BJ Thompson, a backup defense lineman, suffered from a seizure and cardiac arrest during a meeting of the special teams. Fortunately, the medical staff acted promptly, and the player was soon transferred to an ambulance.

As a result of this mishap, the team’s Thursday practice had to cancel their day’s activities. However, all seems to be well at last, as Thompson, who is a 2023 fifth-round pick, is reported to be in stable condition. The Chiefs had earlier announced the cancellation, citing a “medical emergency at the team facility.”

Today’s practice was set to be open to media, however, it was later postponed to Friday. The Chiefs are currently underway in Phase 3 of the voluntary offseason program, with their minicamp set to commence on Jun 11.
