Ava Hunt spent years woven into the rhythm of Chiefs Sundays, cheering from the sidelines, celebrating wins, and growing up in the glow of Arrowhead. But during the Chiefs-Ravens game, she quietly stepped away from that world. With one heartfelt post, she shared that she is beginning a new chapter with Youth With A Mission (YWAM), leaving behind the roar for something deeper.

And we’ll be missing what has become a rather familiar face on the Chiefs’ dugout. She has popped up with her sister Gracy for all the big moments: playoff runs, trophy lifts, even that Super Bowl trip to New Orleans earlier this year. Chiefs fans and fashion blogs alike couldn’t get enough, tracking every gameday fit as Ava’s profile skyrocketed.

The fans have been keeping up with her off-field moves as well. The daughter of Clark Hunt began her new chapter with Southern Methodist University’s cheer team last year, following her high school graduation from a private Christian school.

Between Ava receiving the Eras Tour Book as a gift from Taylor Swift and her needing surgery after falling off a mountain, she might’ve become the fan favorite of the Hunt family. You could argue that she’s been one of the constants through what was arguably one of the most successful periods in the Chiefs‘ history.

Ava’s caption included a tearful goodbye to the Arrowhead, but also announced what’s in store for her. She’s plugging into Youth With A Mission (YWAM). And it’s not too different from college.

For most first-timers, the on-ramp into YWAM is the Discipleship Training School, or DTS. Think of it as a five- to six-month crash course in faith and service: a few months of deep-dive classroom teaching, then a boots-on-the-ground outreach phase where everything you learned gets put into action.

Once the classroom portion wraps, DTS students hit the road for an extended outreach phase. Depending on the base, that could mean teaching, pitching in on community projects, partnering with local churches, or jumping into humanitarian work.

It’s this hands-on stretch that often sends participants far beyond their home countries, turning all that training into real-world impact.

Being part of something like YWAM makes it hard to stay connected to your usual life. The timing feels a little unexpected too, Ava had just joined SMU last year and looked genuinely happy there. But now, it seems the former beauty queen has discovered what truly matters to her.
