The Arizona Cardinals are heading into their bye week on the back of a five-game losing streak. Just like their last four defeats, the Packers’ game was another close defeat, losing the game 27-23 at State Farm Stadium. This win was enough to frustrate the Cardinals’ head coach, Jonathan Gallon, who ended up holding his locker room accountable for the defeat.

“I just told them we’re hitting a battle here on a skid and we dug ourselves a hole,” Gannon said while calling out his players in the postgame presser. “There’s no doubt about it. We’re going to have to dig ourselves out of it. It’s going to be us that does it, so we’ve got to get reset, rest up, mentally, physically, emotionally. We’ve got to reset ourselves, and then we’ll come back to work.”
Coach Gannon has been the biggest supporter of his players. After the 31-27 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 6, he shared encouraging words with the team in the visitors’ locker room to lift their spirits.

The Cardinals had lost four games by a combined nine points in Week 6, now totaling 13 with the Week 7 loss. While these numbers may not mean much in the standings, they show that the team is still competitive. However, these close defeats have also proved the earlier predictions about the team.

As an executive told Mike Sando, the Cardinals might have trouble closing the game out. “They will be relevant until the fourth quarter,” his report read. “And more times than not, they will not be able to close games out. Whether it be a turnover, the inability to get a stop.”

As for the Cardinals, HC Gannon hasn’t given up on his team yet and also blamed himself for not being able to cross the line. “We’re not doing enough,” he said. “And ultimately that falls on me, so I’m disappointed in myself. We got to figure out a better way.”
That has also left many questioning whether the Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray would start when he returns for the game.

The Cardinals have faith in Kyler Murray
Murray missed Weeks 6 and 7 due to a foot injury that he sustained in Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans.
In his absence, quarterback Jacoby Brissett delivered an impressive performance. He went 25-of-36 for 279 yards and two touchdowns to help the Cardinals. However, this wasn’t enough.
With the team struggling, there were doubts about Murray’s starting role. But HC Gannon denied the rumor and confirmed that once Murray is fit, he will be the QB1.
“Nothing’s changed,” Theo Mackie wrote on X.
Before his injury, Murray racked up 110 of 161 passes for 962 yards, six touchdowns, and three interceptions across five games. He led the Cardinals to a strong 2-0 start. If Murray returns as the starter, he will need to regain his pace quickly. And as per Adam Schefter, Murray might show up against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8.
Do you think Kyler Murray will solve the Cardinals’ finishing problems, once he is back?
