“There’s a lot of things that are said outside what’s between your ears!” That is what the legendary quarterback Tom Brady says whenever he faces criticism. He strongly believes that others’ opinions do not define your worth. And we think rookie QB Caleb Williams must need this great advice!

On August 29, ML Football posted news on their X account that may rain on Caleb Williams‘ parade. According to the post, an NFL Rival has questioned the potential of Williams as a quarterback. They feel that the rookie may not be the best in the league and also compared him to Patrick Mahomes.

The post read, “There’s a difference when you’ve got that pressure & he put that pressure on himself. So, if he doesn’t come out here like Pat Mahomes level, then he’s a bust in everybody’s eyes.”  The statements in the post were originally shared with ESPN. So, the anonymous NFC South player believes that by setting high expectations—like the kind of pressure Kansas City Chiefs QB might feel—people expect players to deliver at that same elite level. Even if they are still performing well, it can look like a failure or a “bust” in the eyes of others!

Fans were quick to jump in and support Caleb. One player mentioned that the QB should get a regular-season game under his belt before we start making any big judgments. While the other social media users wrote they were not buying the take!

However, Daniel Jeremiah had some other opinions on the NFL player. In April, he called Caleb Williams the most skilled and remarkable player. He stated, “There is no one more talented, no one more dynamic, no one more special than Caleb Willaims in this year’s draft.” And not only Jeremiah but Danny Parkins shares the same views too! On Thursday’s Breakfast Ball episode, the sportswriter said, “He is already the best quarterback in Bears franchise history, and I am aware that he has played zero NFL games.” And that’s a big deal! So, can we compare Caleb Williams to Kansas City Chiefs starter QB Patrick Mahomes?

Is Caleb Williams really worth the hype?

Caleb Williams is a promising quarterback for his talent and performance in college football. Showing his skills at USC, the player became the overall No. 1 pick of the Chicago Bears. With multiple records and career stats, he is considered one of the best quarterbacks. And that’s not enough! The top-tier quarterback won the prestigious Heisman Trophy in 2022. Notably, he holds the USC single-season record for total offense with 4,919 yards and scored most touchdowns (52).

In the 2024 preseason, Williams was on fire and recorded a total of 170 passing yards. However, the QB’s completion percentage was 50.0%. Although he has not yet thrown any touchdowns in the preseason, and not even recorded any interceptions either, indicating he is on the right track.
