“We have completed an interview with Jacksonville Jaguars OC Grant Udinski for our head coaching position,” the Bills tweeted this update on X on Sunday.

The interview signals Buffalo’s next step after McDermott’s exit, as the Bills explore new leadership options and prepare to make a major head coaching decision soon.

Udinski never played a snap in the NFL, moving from the Towson Tigers as a player to a graduate assistant at Baylor. After stints as a coaching assistant with the Panthers, he rose to assistant offensive coordinator and assistant quarterback coach with the Vikings. But it was in Jacksonville that he really established himself as a name to reckon with.

Udinski’s coaching style has earned high praise from players, showing why he’s considered one of the NFL’s brightest young minds. Last month, in a clip shared by the Jacksonville Jaguars on X, Jaguars’ QB Trevor Lawrence shared his thoughts on Udinski’s coaching style.

“I’ve never really met anyone like him,” Lawrence said during a press conference in December. He added, “The way he approaches the preparation process, the attention to detail, you know, just the game planning in general.”

Lawrence’s comments highlight Udinski’s disciplined, thorough, and smart approach, showing why he is considered one of the NFL’s brightest young coaching talents.

Udinski just turned 30 years old earlier this month, but he has already been seen as an impressive young candidate who could overcome his lack of experience. If hired, he would become the youngest head coach in NFL history. He is also a finalist for the Cleveland Browns’ head coaching vacancy, showing that other teams are taking notice of his talent.

Udinski began his NFL coaching career with the Carolina Panthers as an assistant from 2020 to 2021. In 2025, he earned the offensive coordinator role with the Jacksonville Jaguars under head coach Liam Coen.

Several high-profile candidates have been considered, including Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady, former Giants head coach Brian Daboll, and Commanders run game coordinator Anthony Lynn. Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski is also under consideration, alongside Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver.
