One of those ALDS games falls on the same day the Seattle Seahawks host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for their Week 5 matchup at Lumen Field on Sunday, October 5. That’s exactly why the Week 5 Seahawks-Bucs matchup is facing a potential scheduling conflict. After all, two huge events in Seattle on the same day don’t exactly mix easily.

But if you ask the Bucs’ head coach, Todd Bowles, about this, he’d just shrug it off. As per Scott Smith, the Bucs’ senior writer, “Todd Bowles says there will not be a change to the Bucs-Seahawks kickoff time on Sunday. It remains scheduled for 4:05 pm ET.” But ESPN’s Adam Schefter had other thoughts on this.

A few days back, Schefter reported that “MLB officials are not expected to decide until Friday when the Mariners will start their Sunday American League Division Series in Seattle.” However, Schefter also pointed out that the Seahawks could delay the start of their game from 90 to 150 minutes. The reasoning is simple: The Mariners’ Game 2 of the ALDS is scheduled for Sunday, October 5, at 5:03PM PT.

Yes, the timing overlaps with the Seahawks’ originally scheduled kickoff against the Buccaneers at 1:05 PM PT (4:05 PM EDT). SoDo, Seattle’s sports and entertainment district south of downtown, simply isn’t built to handle two major events at once. Hosting both a Seahawks game and a Mariners ALDS playoff game simultaneously would overwhelm the area’s infrastructure.

From roads and parking to public transit, especially when one of the games is as high-stakes as an American League Division Series matchup. This is exactly why Schefter believes that the game could face a delay from 90 to 150 minutes. But then again, Todd Bowles isn’t sweating at the scheduling conflict.

Mariners got the timings for their first two ALDS games

The Mariners just gave Seattle fans a season to remember. They finally ended the drought after clinching their first American League West title since 2001 with a decisive 9–2 victory over the Colorado Rockies, thanks to Cal Raleigh’s 60th homer of the season during the game.

Besides, Seattle snagged a first-round bye in the ALDS after the Cleveland Guardians’ loss to the Detroit Tigers. That means the Mariners skip the wild-card round and head straight into the Division Series at T-Mobile Park starting October 4. Fast forward to now, and MLB reportedly announced the times for the Mariners’ first two ALDS.

The Mariners will kick off Game 1 of their ALDS against the winner of the AL Wild Card Series between the Guardians and Tigers on Saturday. The start time depends on the Boston Red Sox-New York Yankees outcome. It’ll be 1:08 p.m. if Boston wins, or 5:38 p.m. if New York comes out on top.

Besides, Seattle will take the field for Game 2 on Sunday at 5:03 p.m., no matter which teams advance to the ALDS. However, both games will be at T-Mobile Park.
