The New Orleans Saints lost 23-3 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday Night Football, falling to a 1-7 record. It was their third straight loss after defeats to the Patriots and Bears. With Spencer Rattler benched again and the offense struggling, frustration is growing, and Bucs GM Jason Licht added to it with a well-timed jab.

Following a dominant win, Jason Licht shared a video on X showing the Saints player Cameron Jordan saying, “You know, the Tampa Bay will probably go back to where Tampa Bay has been.” Licht posted the clip at just the right moment, after beating the very team that had doubted the Buccaneers’ rise.

The video dates back to 2023, when Cameron Jordan mocked Tampa Bay after Tom Brady’s retirement. It resurfaced again when Jason Licht posted it right after the Buccaneers crushed the Saints, perfectly tying the past jab to a present-day receipt.

Jordan had just one tackle all night and made a little impact in a game the Saints badly needed. The veteran has been quiet all season, with just 20 tackles so far, 13 of them solo. Licht’s post landed hard: sharp, timely, and impossible to ignore.

While the Saints were trying to find their rhythm, Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers’ offense did just enough to let their defense make some noise. Tampa Bay’s defense forced four turnovers, giving the team steady field position and a burst of energy.

As the Buccaneers come up, the contrast is clear. The Saints, once the tyrants of this rivalry, now find themselves lost in limbo. They’re beaten by their own mistakes and haunted by reminders of the team they used to dominate.

Spencer Rattler benched as Saints search for answers

The Saints head coach Kellen Moore benched rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler during Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers after a rough first half, where Rattler committed two turnovers. The move came after another poor performance the previous week against Chicago, where he lost the ball four times.

The Saints struggled from the start, with Rattler turning the ball over twice before being benched. Tyler Shough stepped in and briefly sparked the offense, helping them cross midfield for the first time.

On Shough’s third possession, they crossed midfield for the first time in the game. He finished 17-of-30 for 128 yards.

Tampa Bay’s defense dominated, forcing four turnovers and keeping the Saints out of the end zone. Cameron Jordan had just one tackle, and the Saints’ defense couldn’t carry the weight anymore.

After the game, Rattler explained, “Hey, we’re going to go with Tyler, get a little spark, see what’s going to happen,” quoting what Moore had told him. The Saints’ offensive line issues and lack of rhythm have only added to their troubles.

The defense, once the team’s backbone, can no longer compensate for an offense that’s sinking week after week. Licht and the Buccaneers didn’t just win a statement game, they disrupted what’s already become a collapsing campaign for New Orleans.
