Bo Nix celebrated his 26th birthday in a way few could top. The Denver Broncos quarterback and his wife, Izzy Nix, welcomed their first child, daughter Riley Belle Nix, on the same day. Izzy shared the update on Instagram on Wednesday, and almost instantly, Broncos Country filled the comments with warm wishes for their signal caller.

Soon after, Izzy described the emotional moment in her post.

She also shared 1 Samuel 1:27, which reads, “For this child, I have prayed.” Then she added, “We are overwhelmed by the goodness of God and immeasurable joy that we have experienced this week!” Izzy wrote. “Thank you, Jesus, for choosing us to shepherd over her life. 🤍”

As a result, the comment section quickly turned into a celebration. And the NFL joined the party. The league’s official page chimed in with a simple “congratulations!!!” Meanwhile, Los Angeles Rams tight end Terrance Ferguson also dropped a “Congrats.”

Interestingly, Ferguson shares more than just league ties with Nix. During their overlapping seasons at the University of Oregon, Ferguson hauled in 11 touchdown passes from Nix. They built chemistry on the field and a friendship off it. In fact, when Ferguson returns to Colorado, he makes time for his former quarterback.

“Whenever I get a chance, I go and see him… have lunch or something. Bo and I talk a lot,” Ferguson said back in March last year.

Notably, Izzy first revealed the pregnancy back in October with the caption “Nix party of 3!!!” Fittingly, Riley arrived on Feb. 25, making this birthday one Bo Nix will never forget. Interestingly, the couple first met at Auburn University, where he played quarterback and she cheered on the sidelines. They married two years later, before his 2022 season at Oregon, and eventually, the Broncos selected him in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

However, life will look a little different now for Nix.

Bo Nix eyes a comeback season

Bo Nix continues to work his way back from a fractured ankle he suffered in the wild-card win over the Buffalo Bills, an injury that abruptly ended his run. Shortly after the AFC title loss, head coach Sean Payton said Nix was already scooting around the team facility.

Meanwhile, Izzy shared a light moment in early February, posting a clip of him riding his scooter to the curb to grab the mail. Even through rehab, Broncos Country has kept a close eye on its quarterback. Back in late January, Nix described the injury as a “typical bone break” that would sideline him for four to six weeks.

However, when he returns, the surrounding system will not look the same, and that change could shape the months ahead. Recently, Payton made it official. Offensive coordinator Davis Webb will now call plays in the Mile-High City.

“I think he really likes what he’s begun to do here with us and the start of working with a young quarterback,” Payton said when asked if play-calling duties were an incentive for the 31-year-old Webb to stay in Denver.

That decision signals a clear shift in direction. And the next stretch feels critical for Nix, both on the field and at home. Still, the Broncos have not wavered in their belief.

“He has that ‘it factor,’” general manager George Paton said at his season-ending press conference. “I don’t think you can teach that. You either have it or you don’t, and he has it. And so, wow. In two years, we have a quarterback that can win, win at a high level. He’s best in big moments. We’ve seen that. Does he have areas to improve? Yes, like all quarterbacks. But we have a quarterback who has that factor that’s best in big moments. That’s pretty big.”

And now, as the silver and blue look ahead, Broncos Country waits to see how that belief plays out at Empower Field.
