Just seven days remain until the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay, and while the city buzzes with anticipation, there’s turbulence beneath the surface. The NFL will see its latest draft in Lambeau Field in Green Bay, but a Packers player, who played seven years on this field, is going through a tough situation. According to reports, Jordan Love‘s closest mate and defender was hit with big news while Brian Gutekunst is trying to fix a 34.3-million-dollar problem.
Packers’ GM and HC Matt LaFleur are trying to move on from cornerback Jaire Alexander. It’s a surprising twist for fans, as Alexander has been with the team since 2018. However, persistent injury concerns and a hefty contract have increased doubts about his future in Green Bay. Both Gutekunst and head coach Matt LaFleur are said to be exploring options, and it appears they may have found a solution.
But before we go deep into the contracts, it’s worth knowing about Alexander’s injury history. According to Draft Sharks, Alexander missed two games due to a groin injury on Sept 24, 2024. Before that, they faced a shoulder injury in the week against the Rams. This wasn’t an isolated incident. In 2022, he suffered another groin injury, and the pattern goes even deeper. Love’s CB friend has been injured every season since he came into the league in 2018, except the 2019 season. And that is why they are thinking about moving on from Jaire.

But there is another problem: his contract figures for the 2025 and 2026 seasons. Jaire signed a 4 year $84,000,000 contract with the Packer in 2022, which will end in 2026. And according to Spotrac, the Packers will have to bear $34.3 million for his next two years of contract. But instead of playing his big amount, Gutekunst is reportedly planning to draft a prospect from 2025 NFL drafts.
Per ESPN’s podcast on drafts, the Packers may draft Trey Amos. The Ole Miss alum is being discussed as one of the top cornerbacks. His stats for the 2024 season say it all. The Ole Miss Rebels No. 9 has made 39 solo tackles, along with one forced fumble and three interceptions. With that kind of impact on the field, it’s easy to see why many believe he should be high on the Packers’ draft radar.
But—Jordan Love has reportedly made a subtle request to GM Brian Gutekunst: keep Jaire Alexander in Green Bay. The QB1 isn’t pushing hard publicly, but the message is clear.
Jordan Love wants Jaire Alexander back
Jordan Love recently appeared on Kay Adams‘s Up and Adams podcast. He discussed a lot of issues on the show, including his practice sessions with the boys, the draft for 2025, and Lambeau Field in Green Bay. But one of the trending topics Adams asked him about was Jaire Alexander.

While answering the question, Jordan not only praised Alexander but also made a subtle request to Brian Gutekunst to get him back. “He’s definitely a player we need back,” Love started his take. He also added, “He’s got his own world going on. We’ll let him handle his business. That’s my guy right there.” Jordan has been on the team’s roster for the past five years, and since he came, the brotherly bond between him and Alexander has developed.
Continuing his take on Alexander, Jordan Love further said, “He’s a guy we need around locker room. He’s a character. That’s a guy, you never know what you’re going to get.” The 26-year-old also added, “With Ja, he’s always a guy that interacts with everybody on the team. He jokes around, but he also has that serious side to him as a competitor.” Alexander has been playing for the team since 2018.
