Essentials Inside The Story

  • Josh Allen's public appearance turns heads as Bills Mafia raise concern.
  • If it were for him, he would've played for Buffalo despite being hurt, as he already has been.
  • Allen proved there's a reason why everyone loves him.

With their Superman quarterback, Josh Allen, suiting up for every game, little did the Buffalo Bills know the extent of his lingering injuries. In his first public appearance since the loss, though, the visuals have confirmed a concerning reality for the Bills Mafia.

“Josh Allen is in a walking boot (right foot) at Joe Brady’s introductory press conference,” Bills reporter Dan Fetes reported this development via X.

This was Allen’s first public appearance since the team’s AFC divisional round loss against the Denver Broncos for new head coach Joe Brady’s introductory presser. He underwent surgery for a broken fifth metatarsal in his right foot in Birmingham, Alabama, on January 26, according to GM Brandon Beane.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that Allen will need between eight and 10 weeks to recover from the procedure. Last week, Beane had already informed about the possibility of the procedure sooner rather than later.

According to this timeline, Allen should be one hundred percent by the time OTAs begin. But even though his injuries came towards the end of the season, it doesn’t make them any easier to tackle.

“Not an ideal situation, painful throughout the weeks,” Allen said, reacting to his recent injury struggles.

Meanwhile, former offensive coordinator and now head coach Brady will ensure that he addresses offensive issues that persisted under Sean McDermott. And it all starts with protecting Allen better.

While Allen has never had an issue with making quick decisions under pressure, with an average of 2.5 seconds in the pocket, he has a tendency to make a run for it. Moreover, instead of sliding when he sees a defensive player approach, as most QBs would, he prefers to tackle them head-on to gain more advantage.

However, that aggressive style is also what puts him at a higher risk for injury.

Josh Allen’s resiliency through stacking injuries is what makes him the Superman of Bills Mafia

It wouldn’t be the first season that Allen has been on the Bills’ injury report for multiple weeks. However, it did become the most glaring this year. The 2024 MVP’s injuries came to light in Week 16 against the Cleveland Browns. He re-aggravated the injury as his foot became sore once again in the Bills’ 13-12 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. However, with clean evaluations and X-rays, he continued to stay in the lineup and lead Buffalo.

The signs, though, were always there.

In that Eagles loss, Allen attempted 35 passes from the pocket, his first game with 20-plus attempted passes. His scrambling also diminished. Later, in the team’s wild-card win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, the 29-year-old also injured his left knee and a right finger. But he stayed strong.

Ultimately, he struggled more against the Broncos, throwing 25-of-39 passes for 283 yards, along with four of Buffalo’s five turnovers, as the team ended its season. While he was more often than not on the Bills’ injury report, Allen continued to play in every game to continue his seven-season-long streak.

He never even missed a playoff game and completed 71.6 percent of his passes for 556 yards and four touchdowns while running for 99 yards and two touchdowns in the postseason. In the regular season, Allen led the Bills to a 12-5 record and completed 69.3 percent of his passes for 3,668 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, while also rushing for 579 yards and 14 scores. All this while he was not at his best.

For now, the team is moving into a new era as the Bills’ new head coach, Brady, expressed enthusiasm during his press conference.

“I love Coach McDermott, and I am going to build upon the foundation he laid. But at the same time, we have to move forward. It starts with a new energy, a new mentality, a new vision,” Brady said.

It all will start with how to improve the offense further and make the opposing defenses fear them. Till then, seeing him in crutches wasn’t the sight anyone in Buffalo thought would become a reality. However, now that they have, understandably, they have concerns about their franchise cornerstone.

Bills Mafia raises concerns over Josh Allen’s injury

When images of Josh Allen walking on crutches surfaced on social media, Buffalo Bills fans were understandably worried about their QB’s health and quickly raised concerns about his condition.

One fan wrote, “Ouch, tough break, Josh—heal up quick, Bills need that cannon arm!” While another tweeted, “Wow, horrible.”

Since taking over as the Bills’ quarterback midway through the 2018 season, Allen has started every game he’s played in. And he has played every game since then, 127 to be exact. Hence, the Bills Mafia also poured in messages of support and blessings for their star signal-caller.

“Hope it heals sooner,” one fan tweeted their wish as others added an update, “Josh Allen is on crutches suffering an unknown injury, but says he’ll be good to go for spring training, best wishes for a speedy recovery, Josh Allen.”

It wouldn’t be Allen if he didn’t say he is okay. In fact, in Brady’s presser, he even claimed that if the team had won their AFC divisional round and played in the conference championship, he would’ve suited up for that as well.

No wonder his fans are exactly what that term suggests, his fans!

“Yet another reason why I hold Josh Allen in the Highest regard. He’s a machine that plays thru every injury. Most QB’s would never. 2025=Broken foot. 2024=Broken hand. 2023=Torn ligament in his shoulder. 0 games missed.”

That’s a huge factor right there. It’s why he was the league MVP last season and is still a finalist in the race this season. Durability and sacrificing oneself go a long way for someone to become a franchise player. Josh Allen has been doing just that since he became their QB1.

As Josh Allen recovers, Bills fans are anxious for their star quarterback to return to full health and soon end Buffalo’s Super Bowl drought.
